Hi all,

My lovely boy tyger has had two areas on both of his front paw pads that the skin has broken.

It's odd because it's both sides but it would be difficult to for him to have stood on something and caught his paws and again it's in a odd spot if he has got in a bit of a scrap.

I'm keeping an eye on it and it's still dry and not weeping.

Has anyone got any ideas on what this might be? I've attached some pictures which hopefully you can see!

Thanks

Minnie

I only see one picture.  I have no idea what it could be, but I have to wonder if Tyger is an indoor/outdoor cat?  It kind of looks like something has pulled the fur off his paw.

Hi Lorie D. Tyger is an outdoor cat but he doesn't go out too much. The area that's broken is actually the soft pad but it's hard to see from the picture.

It doesn't seem to be bothering him which is good.

I'm not sure why the 2nd picture didn't upload. I'll try again...

Those are the little pads on the back of his paws, right? It seems like outdoor cats frequently scrape those. Maybe running too fast on pavement or climbing a tree, who knows. But it's just like knee scrapes in a kid---harmless, unless it gets really big or infected. Just keep an eye out for infection, he should be fine.

I'm hoping that's the case and It will heal up. It's no better or worse than when I found it a few days ago. Has anyone heard of pillow paws? I'm worried it could be that. Think I'll take him to the vet on Monday just to be sure!
