I must be getting old. All of my favourite artists are dying. Lou Reed, David Bowie and now Prince. It's very sad.

I was thinking that, too, Norachan; it seems like we are losing so much incredible talent lately. And it's sad.

I wasn't a big Prince fan, but I did like several of his songs and some of them are really good to walk to. My son and I were texting yesterday (about buying a re-furbished Nintendo system) and he told me that Prince had died; I was shocked. 57. He was only 57.

Gone. So many incredibly talented people are gone. It bothers me a lot more than it used to in the past, probably because I'm at the age where the mortality thing kind of kicks me in the face now.

Omg what a shock!  So incredibly talented, he composed, arranged, sang, produced all his music and played all the instruments as well.  A true musical genius!  And he was only 57.  Way too young.  Godspeed Prince Rogers Nelson.

VH1 did a tribute of Prince's videos last night and then a showing of Purple Rain. It was interesting and I enjoyed it. Rick was shocked that I managed to stay awake til Purple Rain was over at 2:00 this morning.

Since I live in Minnesota I'm not sure if this is national news or just local news.  I have heard reports that Prince's family is thinking of turning Paisley Park into some type of museum probably something similar to Graceland.  It would most likely be a few years before something like this could actually happen, but it would be an interesting place to visit.

I loved Prince since he appeared on the scene around 1978 or so.  I lost track of his music in the past few years but only because I don't listen to as much as I used to.

Incredibly sad end to a remarkable life.

I just read a report that Prince didn't have a will.  I find that hard to believe!

I read that too. This is according to his sister though. The early reports stated that if this was the case, she'd inherit the entire estate but that is not true. He has half siblings as well.

Just because SHE doesn't know of a will doesn't mean that there isn't one. He was not an unintelligent man.

I wondered that too.  If he had no will, she would inherit the house and maybe everything he owned, so maybe she's hoping there's no will.  It just doesn't seem likely that he'd forget to have a will.

I'm fairly certain his lawyers and financial advisors wouldn't allow that. They're probably waiting a while before doing the reading, but when someone has contracts and businesses and stuff they always have some kind of arrangement for what happens when they die or become incapacitated.

Yeah, I agree. I think she's hoping that there wasn't a will. She and Prince didn't have the best relationship according to what I've read. I hope that he did have one so his estate will go where HE wanted it to rather than to someone who feels entitled to it.

I haven't seen her actually say this, so who knows?  The press may be making much ado about nothing.  They are clamoring for any story they can get right now.  I could well be that they kept hounding her for a statement and when she finally said I don't know or No I don't know if he had one or not, and they took it and ran with it.  That does happen too.  I've also seen family get greedy too, right in my own family so I know first hand that can happen as well.

Nightly news just reported that he may not have one and under Minnesota law it would go to all siblings.

I have seen first hand how death and money changes people. My bf's mom died 6 years ago and his sister hasn't talked to him since over some petty stuff. It's crazy how people act like wolves when someone dies. Like their life didn't matter just the money.

So true.  I had nothing but problems getting my siblings to even show up to help me care for mom.  But they sure quickly got in line when it was time to disperse her bank account.  Mercenary witches.

And here's another fine example.  I was in dire need of getting anyone to be with mom for 2 hours one morning so I could go to work.  Mom couldn't get out of bed without help, nor could she walk or feed herself.  The one sister said "I can't...I just had my back adjusted".  I said you don't need to do one thing.  Just be there with her and talk to her.  "But...it's so early!"  I said I'll pay you $40.  She said "Ok!"

Honest to God, that's exactly how the conversation went.

I do wonder if Prince's sister is just a money grubber.  But if she is or if she isn't, it'll become obvious pretty soon, I'll bet.
