My college daughter is having final exams now, and is writing back to back take home exam papers, and taking test after test. She is very organized, but it's taking a toll. It's a lot of work at the end. Thank goodness she is through at the end of next week - until summer session begins!
Same with DD. it really is a lot of work. her last day will be a week from today and then I get to pick her and all of her stuff up. Then she's off for the summer until August 20th when I bring her back for the fall semester. The start of senior year!

Then she graduates and we start the fun all over again for grad school.

Woke up to another site of Artie sleeping on my pillows!

It has been 2 weeks now since he began doing this!  and it is allergy season!

Fur in the face, eyes, nose, is not good!

I hate to push him off, although his kneading the pillows at various times during the night, wakes me up!

I know he loves me. He has been extra clingy lately also. I guess it is just a phase; or is he reading my anxiety over this medicare issue and trying to comfort me?

Luci will usually sleep on my pillow next to my head. She will wake me if I'm dreaming. I guess I disturb her, other than that, she just lays there.

My daughter is a first-semester junior at USF. I think yours is at UCF. Mine is a history major with an education minor. She will graduate in 2 more years with her teaching certificate in social studies, and her ESOL endorsement. She also plans to go straight to graduate school. She's also doing the Honors Program and so will be writing a thesis. I hope we both survive it all! [emoji]128513[/emoji]

What is your daughter's major?

Yup- she is finishing up her junior year at UCF. She is a criminal justice major.

Some idiot posted something on social media yesterday about a "middle eastern woman with a gun" inside the UCF library so they evacuated and shut the library down. Police found nothing thankfully. I got this in my email yesterday from the school.

:

*UCF ALERT* POSSIBLE MIDDLE EASTERN GUN MAN/WOMAN IN UCF MAIN CAMPUS LIBRARY.  AVOID THE AREA!

Sent by UCF to All users (E-mail, Wireless) through UCF ALERT

... powered by the Roam Secure Alert Network

DD was supposed to have an exam last night. The professor cancelled class and pushed the exam to next week. Her majesty the queen (DD) was annoyed. I told her to be glad that it turned out to be nothing. The classroom is not near the library but I agree with the professor's decision to cancel class. If there had been someone with a gun, who knows where they would have gone or what they would have done to evade capture.

I hope they go after whoever it was that posted that.

Oh my word! I did not hear that on the news, but you are correct to let DD know it's better to be safe than sorry. Professor did not want students in danger (more time to study, too!). There are so many crazies out there, but if that was a prank by a student, he/she is likely to be expelled if not criminally charged. Not funny at all! [emoji]128528[/emoji]

This is the article from the Orlando Sentinel

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ucf-library-gunman-report-20160426-story.html

OK if you are out somewhere, especially on a very crowded college campus and you see someone acting suspiciously (regardless of their ethnic background), WHY would you wait to post it on social media? Why not call 911? UCF has their own police department (real cops- not rent a cops). They would have been there in minutes. I am on that campus at least once a month and they are all over the place.

Honestly, it sounds like a great deal of miscommunication, though I do understand that they must check everything out. Sounds almost like rumors that got put on FB by a student, that then caused a panic. The whole "student in a stairwell" part is strange.

I hate starting new medicine. You never know how to take it if it don't specify, morning, afternoon, evening, with or without food. My new one is twice a day, ok I have that, but it's with or without food. I took it last night with food and did fine. So this morning I tried it without food and my stomach is rolling. I ate something about 30 minutes after and started feeling nauseous. Now I'm eating a light lunch hoping to ease it off some.

I hate medicine too, and usually take it with food, as I have a sensitive stomach too. Hope you feel better soon!

Does the pharmacy not include a sheet that describes the medicine, how it is taken, side effects, etc? The national chain pharmacy I go to does. Sometimes the medicine bottle / package itself has labels that says "Take with food" or "Shake before using". It's always a good idea to ask the doctor questions about the medicine as the prescription is being written up in the office or call the doctor after filling the prescription and the label isn't clear about how to take the medicine. The pharmacist may be able to explain as well.

It does and says it can be taken with or without food. Which is why I try it both ways to see how it affects me. Last night with supper it was fine. I don't eat breakfast so I took it on an empty stomach and it wasn't good. Looks like I'll be eating something for breakfast from now on, even if it's something light. I hope as long as I have something in my stomach when I take it it will be alright.

This is the 6th summer in my home. I have a screened in patio that the cats love. They spend the whole day out there at times. They even go out in the winter. I've never worried about them being there. 2 weeks ago, something put a hole in the door screen and 2 cats got out. Loki came right to me and I was able to get him back in. Seamus got spooked and took off. We live in the woods, so I had no neighbors to help look out for him. Thankfully, he came back that evening. Today, they busted through the screen again and the same 2 stinkers got out. This time I was able to get them both in right away. I read on the catsite about a pet guard. I just bought one and hope it works. But first I have to replace the screen again! Blah

@Rhondalee -- someone here at TCS swears by using hardware cloth. she/her DH added a screened in porch/catio area under an existing (i wanna say) second story deck. they used two layers of screening and two layers of hardware cloth. i remember her saying in a post that she told her DH that he'd be glad he did that in the long run. i thought i'd mention it, as it might be worth considering, now you'll be replacing screening.

edit to add:  a link to @LisaHE 's post about using screening as well as hardware cloth for their c/patio -- http://www.thecatsite.com/t/303961/cat-enclosure#post_3813072 ...and see two posts below that for a photo of the finished c/patio!

If you ask me, the instructions aren't always correct. I take glyburide for diabetes. It's very fast acting. The physician's instructions were to take it in the morning. Like you, I eat a very light breakfast or none at all. If I took it on an empty stomach, I would pass out from low blood sugar within an hour or two. So I take it just before the evening meal, and it's fine. You have to figure out what's best for you and do that. Sounds like yours needs to be taken with food.

Scary. I am working on getting new window screens in my house for a similar reason. My younger cat loves to climb up the window screen, so I worry. Especially since we have such huge windows! They aren't sturdy screens.

I'm going to have to get new screens installed in my outdoor doors because Mingo climbs and scratches them, leaving holes in the screens. Bummer.

I need to get a screen room installed. right now the deck is falling apart and I cant find anyone I trust to build me a new one.

I like the idea of a closed in area where they can still watch the wildlife without being outside. But they would poke a hole in that screen in 5 minutes sadly.

View media item 345079 This is the pet guard I installed. micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom It's a lot like hardware cloth, but, if you can see the edges, they are sealed so there isn't any sharp edges. It was super easy to install. Loki isn't in the picture, that's Ivy and Seamus, but he was really upset when he realized what I did. Lol. Guess I fixed his wagon! I haven't read the article yet, but will do as soon as dinner is done. Thanks for the advice. I want to build a catio this summer!
