segelkatt segelkatt , it's less the idea about needing somewhere to put the pics (they are on both my laptop hard drive, as well as an external hard drive), but rather I can't bring myself to delete any of the pictures. It just breaks my heart too much to do so. Gotten to the point I can't delete any of my kitty pics for that matter.

CAT HOLIC: can't stop bringing cats home,

ok, this is not ori ginal but I just had to share this
I saw a meme with that one time, something about a guy who saw a girl on some dating website was a CAT HOLIC and misunderstood it, and was shocked at all the cats, hahaha.

My neighbors have gotten a jump on the July 4th celebrations and are filling the night with booms and whistling noises.  Chula is very nervous.  Every time a volley of blasts goes off, she looks at me with this questioning look on her face.  Paul is in the window watching - he has no fear, apparently.

Our local army fort had its Fourth Fireworks display on Thursday--and our city had its fireworks display the Friday before last (our city likes to get the jump on our neighbors--I think it's because the people in charge of the fireworks display like to go over to the other displays). AWM has plans for us to go to our neighboring city's fireworks on Monday, but I might have to pull a double. It's the holiday.

I ended up stopping in really quick to the adoption center because someone got scheduled to work at their job at the same time they were going to volunteer. It was just a brief visit, but Tipsy the crazy cat was doing much better. She even went into her cubby all by herself.

Glad to hear Tipsy is doing better!

Haven't heard any fireworks yet - so strange! It's 10pm now so I'd expect to hear it by this point but nope, nada. They usually have fireworks the entire weekend too. I'll count my blessings as I think when they do start going off, we'll have some upset critters here.

I haven't heard many fireworks either. I think part of it is a lot of the cities banned them this year because we haven't been getting the same amount of rain that we normally do.

New Mexico refuses to ban fireworks. Most years sales should simply be shut down. Instead the area outside my little town looks like the circus has come to town. Tents full of potential grass and forest fires for sale.  The regular fireworks stores that are open year round are really popular as truckers and travelers can buy fun things they can't get in their home states.

So far it's been quiet out here. I'm hoping it stays that way. I only have a few people that I'm down wind from.  Most of them are pretty sane.

I mean absolutely no offense, but Georgia banned fireworks (except for officially licensed ceremonies) and the only  result is that hundred of thousands of people cross the river into our state to get their firework fix. And, occasionally to show that fireworks are still  against the law, there will be a fine. (If no one gets hurt, the fine is about thirty dollars.) I don't know for a fact, but I'd be willing to bet that if New Mexico outlawed fireworks the result would be the same (and the state can't tax the sparkly hot things if the state isn't selling them). I'm not saying I agree  with it (either side of the debate), but I kind of understand both sides. Just pointing out that even if they did  outlaw fireworks, it probably wouldn't make much difference in the things that happen.

In other news I had a slightly heartwarming moment (I would have been more touched if the whole thing hadn't felt just a tad  rehearsed). For the first time since I started my new job, I made dinner. I made egg baskets (creating the "baskets" out of deli ham slices--two per basket--and dropping a single egg in there before topping it with shredded cheddar) and some sweet rolls (Pillsbury orange cinnamon). AWM has been fixing dinner lately (mostly because she's been at loose ends since losing her post with Uber), and she's not as culinarily diverse as I am when it comes to fixing food. Most of AWM's food consists of sandwiches (both closed and open-faced), tortillas with meat and cheese, and occasionally (last night in fact) she'll cook something I don't eat (fish). (It only seems mean; I can't stand the taste of fish and seeing it cook leaves me feeling slightly nauseous.) Anyway, as we were eating RB mentioned that he wished I cooked more often and AWM told him I'm clocking insanely diverse hours at my job. It was kind of heartwarming that he misses my cooking so much--but like I said, it felt a little scripted.

In the county where I live there are only a few cities that still allow fireworks to be sold and set off. It's mostly because of the fire danger and this county is so built up that just one fire can devastate a huge area. The fire we had just a few miles from where I live consumed 40 acres of brush and it took 4 days to put it out completely. We are also in a 6 year drought and everything is bone dry. Disneyland has fireworks every night at 9 pm year round, and for July 4th there are firework displays in various places so people really do not have to set off fireworks themselves. Tonight I have heard only one small bang and one really humongous one and that is only because I live on the border between our community and the next town. All the towns run into each other here, if it was not for signs one would not know one had crossed into another town.

Thank you all for the encouragement and wishing me well! I had Bell's Palsy about 6 years ago, so I knew when I woke up with a droop on one side of my mouth that it was the same thing. So thankful they ruled out a stroke. I enjoyed my dinner out, and took my time eating. I thought it was sweet of my boyfriend to say he would eat slower so I wouldn't feel rushed. We went to Cracker Barrel early before dinner time so it wasn't crowded or noisy. They were out of the Campfire meals that I wanted. They're so tender & juicy, the roast or chicken is wrapped in foil and cooked with carrots and potatoes. Oh well, another time maybe. For anyone having a painful condition, I know from having spinal stenosis that we have to stay positive because our body works with our attitude. A good attitude makes us feel so much better. Dwelling on it makes us feel worse.

We cat lovers are happy people!

The absolute issue is irresponsible use of fireworks. It has remained quiet here tonight. We are banned on a regular basis from even cooking outdoors on a grill. There are signs put up by the state informing us of those rules and the penalties.

It doesn't matter if the compliment was scripted. They cared enough to try. That says a lot about how wonderful your family is.

My neighborhood goes crazy with fireworks on July 2, 3, and 4th.....It really scares Artie..

I live a couple blocks from the beach. The long the beach, in the residential area, is blocked off every year for a "block Party, on July 4th. They even hire a couple of detail police officers! It was massive infers past. They have a huge, I mean huge, fireworks display on the beach sand. There are a couple of areas, next to each other which feature the fireworks. There is also a huge bonfire. Years ago, it was invitation only. It was wall to wall people. Now it is pretty much open to the close public. One of my neighbors has relatives there. One year I was invited, but declined because it is really too much. They put speakers outside and have music blasting also.

It is really a sight to see. One year I went down to see the fireworks. People, mostly teens and young adults swarmed down there. From different cities. I was fortunate to manage a seat on the beach fence. I had to crane my neck all the way back, look up to see them. The bangs went through my body. The smoke was quiet fierce. One year was enough. I could have gone down to the bonfire, but there was too much smoke.

They do clean things up immediately. The next day, you do not see much evidence left. The bonfires are there for a reason.

Fireworks is supposed to be outlawed in my state, however, people just cross the line into New Hampshire to stock up on them. The neighborhood has been pretty good this year. I hope they are just waiting for tonight and tomorrow.

Since the block party began, other houses in the residential area, have decided to have parties also; along with the requisite fireworks, in the street...dangerous, or on their lawns--dangerous.

When I sit on my balcony, I can see, feel, hear, the fireworks and music. All I have to do is look straight ahead and up a bit.

One year, before the trees grew to be in the way; some of my neighbors were out watching, listening, and ooouwing in awwwwwing at them. We all had a glass of a beverage and were dancing on our balconies to the music. It was really great.

I can also see the fireworks from a couple of surrounding cities. That same year, we were fortunate enough to be able to look in 4 different directions for them. One after another. It was great.

Not great for Artie. He used to get so scared of them. Now I have to close the blinds, drapes, put the AC on (noise) and TV on loud to disguise the noise and light. He is a bit better about the noise, but it still bothers him. A few years ago, I tried giving him a Zyklene pill as soon as they started. That did the trick. He was calm through the episode..loved it.

The fireworks started last night around 11pm. Only for about an hour. I was in bed, so it did not matter that much.

Tonight, perhaps I will sit outside and enjoy them. I definitely will try tomorrow. I am up very early for church. I did not sleep well last night..and it is a busy day.. Church, breakfast, ?gym, them humane society for feeding and cleaning.

its interesting about the attitudes concerning fireworks. It takes very much to scare me. For up in NH some towns banned fireworks and others dont care. This summer I think people will take more precautions to avoid fire. garden house and wetting the lawn prior to light off. We used to have tons of rain until the last few years. So last night I only heard a few. There is a clearing behind our part that people light them off but Ididnt hear them last night. We used to go driving around looking for a high hill to sit in the car and watch the fireworks. We were invited to a friends house on the lake from work but they will have 40+ people over and Jon HATES crowds. I told him it will be just sit and watch and ohh and ahh..he says I don't care which I don't know if it is yes or no. So It is tonight. I don't know if we will go. We are fuddy duddies. I was falling asleep with my book by 8.

The sun is shining and no humidity. Mr. Jon is sunbathing on the deck. We got ACDC playing and he says he will only be only there for half an hour each side. He still wont listen to me about sunblock but I have plenty. I think some people are stubborn and will do whatever. I just say hey live and let live. I hope I make it to his age and still have enough money to do what I want. At his age he has the right to do what he wants.

The cats are going in and out the door sniffing Jon's head and meowing at him. Sometimes they lay in the sun with him but this morning its warm already. We may take a drive to a nearby lake but its only for town residents. I don't know if he wants to go swimming. I would love to go back to Ellcoya but I know it will be packed. We will have to wait until 6ish to go take a dip. Then I wont burn but it will be warm out.

Gonna see what fireworks are around tonight. maybe we will go out for burgers-oh we did that already yesterday after yardsaling...hmm. I think we will go get fried clams.

I enjoy the fireworks. When there isn't an imminent threat of a grass fire. I made a run for town early. Picked up drinking water and a few odds and ends. Had to get done before noon when the church people get out and the liquor store opens. Tomorrow will be a parade which blocks most of the one road going through town. Add the 18 wheelers from the truck stops and it's a nightmare.

Just found out a booksale is in a lakefront town. maybe we will chance the traffic and go up to moultonboro NH. maybe they will give me a deal. not like I need more books. like a hole in the head! I read half a book last night. Catherine Anderson Sweet Nothings. She really is a great author if you like western modern romance in Oregon type setting. snakes and ranching and cooking.

It starts out about a horse who was stolen by a lady whose husband was abusing it. She drove 150 miles to get the horse away from the mean husband. This husband got her admitted to the fruitcake hospital and is on the run because she wants a divorce.she sends the horse to a well known horse whisperer. She lied to him about who she really is but he says he will help her out. he hires her as a cook and housekeeper to feed his crew of 13 men. Its been an interesting story and I really enjoy her courage and smartassness.

She is tiny 5'2" but no man wants to tangle with her when she is ticked off. He took her distributor cap out of the engine to keep her from running when she said she has to move on after he quoted a price she can't afford=this was before he offered her a job. She came back in madder than a hen you know what and she pretty much destroyed his kitchen getting mad. Now its just a story but seriously I was wondering how he would react. of course he never hurt her but such an interesting story!

so now I am probably going to take an hour drive to the winnipesaukee lake town to not really need more books but just get out of the house...not sure how bad traffic will be...have a great afternoon everyone!

Irony of ironies, someone posted this on Facebook today. It wasn't what I thought, lol. But still funny!

I put together a survey today regarding professional cat sitting services. Trying to put some of what I learned in marketing class (which I hated but was for some reason quite good at) to use. Hard to gauge interest sometimes but looking for a baseline. I'm sure there is some secondary research available, somewhere.

All I can say is good luck with your survey. I hope you get the info you need.
