that is adorable! Floey licks me when she is hungry. usually wants to be hand fed. I usually lift her and put her in front of the food. or I give her soft treats.

honeybee is a licker. She will lick any skin visible. there have been times I have woken up to her licking my foot or leg.

I taught honeybee to lick water out of a sport bottle with the cap upside down full of water. This is her favorite summertime thing to do. I trained her on the long ride to our camp=she was thirsty-and I put water in the soda cap and she laps it up. She really is adorable.  her fur is so soft even with the haircut.

Donutte-I don't like riding a train/bus if I cant hear the stops-I am hard of hearing anyways but usually don't mind public transportation. Up our way is the train that goes from Portland me to boston ma but its expensive. Took my dad up to Old Orchad beach in maine once from dover nh. he loved it. the cabins looked brand new and we were moving along pretty well when out of the city.

@mrsgreenjeens have you broken a nail lately? Maybe cracked a dish, scratched a piece of woodwork, put a dent in a can, burned a meal? Any of those things could be counted as one of 3 things to happen!
I know I've already replied to this comments, but I just remember something ELSE that happened that's better than a broken nail that's going to cost money to fix, so I think that better qualifies as the third bad thing that's happened.  Yay!  (Is that pessimistic or optimistic
?)

Anyhoo, my hand mixer took a dive right in the midst of me making a batch of pumpkin bread the other day.  I had to hold it together with one hand while mixing with the other until I could figure out what happened.  then I realized a screw had fallen out of what was holding it all together and just hoped it hadn't fallen into the batter.  I put plenty of nuts into the bread though, and it's all been eaten with no broken teeth, so guess we'll never know

Got my litter boxes bleached and new litter fresh in the boxes. Worlds Best cat litter smells a lot like bird food or guinea pig food. We'll see what the cats think soon.

can't decide if I should leave work at normal time or stay over. my job has lots of down time and I have caught up on my work.

I miss my cats. Miss my Honeybee's meows at me to put her and give her treats. Going to the gym after work-I haven't done anything since Thursday-need to keep going-whats everyone up to day?!!

Last night AWM, RB, and I were streaming AFV (America's Funniest Videos) when the show went to animals that seemed to talk. One of them was a cat that said "no" to being bathed. Princess, who was sleeping in the living room, jumped up when the cat was one and ran around the house looking for it. A little while later on the same segment was a cat protesting imprisonment in a home kennel and ended with the cat saying "hello" to the human talking to it. When the second cat came on Princess checked all three of us out, looking for that cat she just knew we were torturing. She then gave AWM and RB dirty looks and crawled (I was sitting on the floor) into my lap for pets and cuddles. Poor baby!

That's adorable. When we watch cat videos at our house, Carrot doesn't care, but Angua goes looking for them everywhere. Especially if they are kittens.

Ya know what?  I don't have a single thing to say today, and I've used up more than 15 words not saying it!

Is there a special babbler award for things like this?

now its finally raining out-I hope we get enough so I don't have to water anymore. my strawberries are getting big and fat. My Lupine are almost all bloomed. I got a pink one again this year-it hasn't bloomed for 3 years. lots of new petunia plants coming up from self seeding-I left a hanger pot on my rock walkway 8  years ago= now I have petunias wave kind growing in the walkway every summer-normally we don't see the plants until july as we usually have snow and cold up to mid may. :)

Looks like more rain. Again. At least I won't have to water the plants (which are finally  growing!) Out of curiosity, has anyone ever jury-rigged a trellis for a vine plant before? What's the best way to do that? (I'm growing cucumber in a container, and I thought it might be a good idea to trellis train the plants so that it's easy to harvest the cucumber.)

You can find a fan-shaped trellis at Home Depot which you could put into the pot with the cuke plant. I put all my cuke plants on trellises, you need to help them a little when they first start to vine, after that they pretty well do for themselves.

If you have a bit of  stiff wire fencing with big holes you could make a cage or use a tomato cage but I don't recommend those, they are not strong or tall enough. Cucumbers get pretty heavy.

It's made from whole corn, no, not the corn you can eat, more like what they use for ethanol, so it's no wonder that it smells like bird food. It does not dust as much as other litter and it lasts longer. Some places you are allowed to flush it although not in California.

Decided to go to the kitty summer social. Go figure. Played the raffle so waiting on them to pick the numbers, which should be soon. Wish me luck!

We probably won't flush it since we are on a septic tank. The cats are using it and the fact that there is no dust is glorious. We solved another problem today as well. Angua has been eating a vine plant that we have and barfing it up. We moved the vine to  shelf that she cannot reach. Two Angua health concerns fixed in the same day.

Oh, my!  We've passed post 2,000!  Does anyone know who got it?

Well, Roger is getting better, getting lots of physical and occupational therapy in rehab, and as soon as he gets out he'll be having all bills sent to the house so that I can pay them, from our joint account.  No more being surprised at the pharmacy when they tell me that our insurance has lapsed and my meds are no longer covered.  He'll also be doing what he has to do to regain as much of the business that he's lost over the last four years (through not checking voice messaging and returning calls, among other things) as possible.

It was Columbine.

This is great new that Roger is getting better.  Also better for you to handle the bills.  I was shocked when I saw my hospital bill.  Still paying off my share.  Does he have help at work?

Congratulations, @Columbine!  Enjoy your T-shirt!

Officially, yes.  Dolores is there to help him, but, much as I love Dolores, she's a little slow.  Roger never checks voice messages, so Dolores is supposed to, but if I leave a voice message that's truly important, I have to include the words, "Dolores, if you get this, do not delete it!  Make sure Roger hears it!"

And, by the way, Roger is about to start checking voice messages; I require it from him and it's necessary if he wants to get any business back.  He's already agreed to it.  I'm still embarrassed that it took me four ****ing years to figure out that his problem was depression and that he wasn't taking his antidepressants frequently enough to do any good.  He's beginning to be sane again, now that I've gotten him taking them daily, and his nurses know exactly how important it is to him.

Unfortunately, this man who normally insists on reading everything through in its entirety before he signs it apparently didn't read through the terms on our insurance policy; they will only reinstate it after it's been terminated for nonpayment once every six months, and since they already did that in March it looks like we're completely without insurance for the next four months, except for Roger's Medicare (for which I'm not eligible).  Roger normally goes through his $1500 deductible during the first week of January, so medical bills for the next few months will be coming out of the reverse mortgage and my mother's estate, money that was meant to support me in my old age.  We're eating up principle here, not interest.  AARRRGHH!

I'm glad your cats are using the new litter. Septic tanks are not the place to put this kind of stuff. Some people think that a septic tank is just like the municipal sewer but it's not. They should educate themselves on just how a septic tank works. I had never heard of a septic tank until about 30 years ago when the neighbor across the street told me he had one. He also gave me an education on how it worked and what NOT to put in one although I was hooked up to the municipal sewer. He also told me that the orange and the grapefruit trees he had in the very farthest corner of his property had the best fruit because that was where the septic tank had its feeder lines going into the soil and the roots of those big trees went way down, sucking up the nutrients. Instant non-chemical fertilizer underground.

Of course there are not many septic tanks around here anymore although this was in Riverside, CA. I learned the beginning of my gardening knowledge from that old man and now I am as old as he was then and has passed away many years ago. I have turned into a really good gardener too.

@Margret As sorry as I am to hear you have to use your retirement funds, I am so glad you have the funds to pull from.  I've been worrying about this for you since you said he hasn't paid the insurance and was hospitalized.

I should walk Eclipse but I am not feeling up to it.  Maybe after a healthy snack.

Healthy snack?   What's that?   I'm trying to remember what I've had to eat today and other than my bran flake breakfast it seems to be largely made up of sugar and carb's.   Bits of an orange and lemon ice popsicle I'd cut in to pieces at work, some fruit smoothie, a couple of whole grain biscuit things, two little buns and 2 oatcakes my mom had baked, a small slice of lemon tart, and a bit of bread.   I think tomorrow had better involve some 'proper' food.
I was working today though and tomorrow I get to chill out and annoy Mouse all day so plenty of time to organise myself a proper meal. (
, there's me thinking choc' chip cookies already).
