I love when cats lay together. It always makes me smile to see them so comfortable with each other. I love the markings on Pumpkin. She's gorgeous.

I adore black cats, and have two of them! In fact, I adopted Pea-Pea after seeing her big pumpkin eyes, and reading that black cats have a hard time getting adopted. I'm sure Lucky, who had recently passed away, had something to do with that. Anyway, until then, I had NO idea they had such a difficult time getting adopted.

Mingo didn't have any problem getting adopted; I picked him right up. That's him in my avatar. He's not sleek; he's as soft as a powder puff. When I first brought him home, I couldn't keep my hands off him, which of course, made him run away. He's grown to like being petted, but still doesn't like to be picked up. Even my grandson commented on how soft he is.

Loki doesn't like to be held at all, but wants me to bend over all day and pet him. He's a real brat. I look forward to his nap time the way I did my children's nap time. Lol. It must be a black cat thing!

That's interesting. My black cat is silky soft. He's always been very shy. He's not a lap cat, and will not tolerate being picked up. But he's a lover - he lays right next to me on the couch and when I'm in bed and practically begs for attention! He's just a really sweet boy!

And unfortunately, in the U.S., black cats are all too often pictured with witches, and considered bad luck if one should cross your path. It's a really bad rap for black cats, and totally unfair. But the American public must have bought into the myth, since so many shelters have black cats that go for months unadopted. [emoji]128533[/emoji]
Come to think of it, witches pretty much have an undeserved bad rap, too.  Poor witches.  Poor cats.  And the vast majority of it all whipped into a frenzy so that the Church and State could legally seize land, for the most part.  Ah, well...

That said, I don't know whether to scream, spit, or throw things.  Ya'll know I've been cleaning and scrubbing and making myself crazy for the inspection this morning.  My neighbor called me about 10:00, and told me the maintenance man was at her place, and the inspections have been cancelled.  They will be rescheduled at a later date.  AND I HAD CHEESE TOAST FOR SUPPER LAST NIGHT AND BREAKFAST THIS MORNING SO I WOULDN'T MESS UP MY KITCHEN!

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Honeybee only chatters when its time to open the door so she can go out. If you don't-she starts screaming. Its hysterical! Shes half the size of the other two cats and very loud. I try to train her to give me "kisses" and "honeybee Come" with treats. its about 50/50. If I say kisses in a sweet high voice she usually gives kisses on my fingertip. But only if I have treats.

Floey hisses at me when she is mad otherwise very rarely does she meow-its usually a throaty rowwl type of meow.

Pumpkin cries when I pick her up to put in her carrier for laser treatment. She goes nuts until we are in the car-then she calms down and doesn't peep.

Do your cats talk?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry for you. It seems that these sorts of things always seem to happen when they shouldn't. [emoji]128545[/emoji]

Maybe if you make spaghetti, the inspection will be re-scheduled. [emoji]128064[/emoji]

I love cheese toast though! [emoji]128521[/emoji]

OH!  I forgot to tell you in all the angst about the dratted inspection...I went to a new site last night, SpoonFlower.com, (well, new to me).  They make make fabrics to order from your photos, and also have very unusual fabrics.  I searched "cat" and came up with a HUGE number of patterns, including one, of all things, of line drawings of CAT FANNIES!  How funny is that?  Some small part of me wanted to order a yard of it for throw pillows!  Or just to frame, as art...now...there's a thought...order a yard at a time of different patterns (about $18 a yard), and frame them.  Cheaper than most art!

Spot and Slipper talk, all the time. Spot talks the most frequently: he mutters to himself. He mutters over his food, he mutters when he wants pets, and there's this pathetic sounding mew that he gives me if I'm slow refilling the cat food dishes (I leave dry food down all day; most of them may have stopped growing, but Ra still is). Rose sometimes chirps at me, but only if she's impatient and I'm too thick to understand what she's saying. Asia gives this quiet chirp if I startle her, and the only sound Ra makes is a purr.

...with the cats...
during the overnight last night my 3 cats had their usual playing and romping around, normal here. today, after i'd gotten all the daily chores completed, i sat down at my computer's external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. i tap the space key on the keyboard a few times, to 'wake up' the computer, and nothing....it doesn't wake up. but the (wired) mouse works fine.
so i check the cords/cables and connections, making sure nothing had become loose...and still the keyboard isn't functioning. i walk over to the imac and check it's set of keyboard and mouse -- functioning properly. next, i restart the computer......and still no keyboard. so i unplugged the keyboard, then plugged it back in......and voila! the keyboard is back to functioning properly.

.........methinks itty bitty kitty feets were dancing on the keyboard last night!

First of all: the person who gave my friend three beta fish (not me!!!), had no idea what he was doing. (His mother was a dog breeder with ichnyphobia (I think I spelled that right), and couldn't stand the sight of any fish. (Naturally, he'd wanted an aquarium his entire life.) The mirrored aquarium was (supposedly) heat efficient, as the mirrored sides helped keep the heat in. (He was easily scammed. Did I mention that?) And he didn't know anything about beta fish (not even that they're saltwater fish); he just thought they were pretty. (Personally, I think the person at the pet store should have mentioned something when he wanted three of them. Given that the internet was nowhere near as easily accessible as it is now, I find that the fault lies with the pet store attendant for not telling him anything even after he told them he'd never had fish before and was trying to set up a starter aquarium for his girlfriend. The store has since gone out of business.) And yes, they did indeed kill each other. My friend was horrified (which is how I know about beta fish).

Lastly, I never said put fish in the fish bowl. They make good decorative accents, not pet homes.
Sorry if I came off as harsh I didn't mean to. I thought that you were implying that Bettas should be kept in bowls because they might attack their reflections in a tank. But also, Bettas are not saltwater fish. In the wild they live in rice paddies, which are slow moving freshwater.

I live in a building with quarterly inspections as well.  One time I forgot about them so the inspectors were able to see my home au naturale.   My bed wasn't made or the floors vacuumed and there was stuff all over the floor (mostly cat toys and mats of Paul's black hair).  My kitchen counters were cluttered and I had bags of groceries on the floor that I hadn't put away yet.  However, there were no dirty dishes, the cat box was clean and the trash was out and that appears to have been all they cared about.  I think the main concern is pests.   Is your management group really picky?  I guess I am lucky!

Darko, my black velvet cat who glistens in the sunlight, is a chatterbox, extremely LOUD chatterbox who screams at me if I'm upstairs and he wants me to be downstairs
.  Like some of the other black cats here, he hates to be picked up, yet is quite the lovebug.  He loves to "hug" me while we watch TV or while we're in bed.

Tinky is my other black cat, who is fluffy and soft and does NOT glisten.  Also a chatterbox, but never loud.  Half the time I have to strain to hear him.  He has just the tiniest little meow.  It's more like a "meep"    Now HE loves to be held.  24 hours a day.  I can't get much done because he's in my arms.  I joke about needing a papoose with him around

If anyone is interested in betta care, there's a great forum at http://www.bettafish.com/ The main site has links to other fish forums (tropical, saltwater, etc).
I love browsing through Spoonflower
I've had it bookmarked for years now. They do more than just fabric now - wall paper, gift wrap, patterns, etc.

No, I'm sorry to tell you that it's just a cat thing.  Jasmine also thinks I should bend over to pet her, and never, ever pick her up, even to take her to the kitchen and point out her full food saucer!
Picking her up is a violation of her precious feline dignity.

Did you folks hear about this one?  http://www.newsjs.com/url.php?p=htt...spected-being-terrorist-because-math-equation   I've heard before about math teachers wielding weapons of math instruction, but it's supposed to be a joke, for crying out loud.  Can you imagine this woman's horror if someone had also told her that he was using Arabic numerals?!

So was doing a search for animal-related part-time jobs (need some extra $$$ to make up for my depleted savings after Sara's vet bills). And on this one sight, a bunch of vet places listed, and one job for a meat/poultry inspector. Uh, yeah, not exactly what I'm looking for.

I thought the silt from the irrigation would make them salt water, but that's not important. (Just goes to show how much I still  don't know about the fish.) And don't worry about sounding harsh--we all have subjects that are our pet peeves.
