Quick over view of what I do; I'm involved in private TNR & orphan kitten rearing. I got in a heavily pregnant cat last week (Monday) and was told she's due within the "next two weeks max" by my trusty vet.
This girl, which I've named Crazy (she chases her own tail which is SO cute), keeps giving me signs of labor then stopping. I was so sure she was going to pop out some kits Saturday night (it's now Wednesday morning @5:51am) and nadda.
I'm letting her stay in my room but she prefers my bed over her nesting box (large dog kennel). I'm afraid to go to bed because I don't want to wake up by rolling over newborn kittens. -_-
I don't typically deal with queens- just orphans or S/Ns. Advice? Symptoms you have seen for labor?

She's probably very close now. It sounds like she was experiencing some pre-labor before. Some signs are water breaking, loss of mucus plug, diarrhea, pinkish or clear vaginal discharge, babies "dropping", steady ripples in her sides (contractions), nesting, etc. if she's not in distress she's fine. Good luck! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I keep seeing her breath fast then stop after 30 seconds. It gets me so excited / anxious. No babies yet though. I'm constantly checking her for leakage & contractions but it doesn't help that those little ones are insanely active in her belly. This is becoming more tiring than bottle feeding

Thank you Sarthur2 for responding, the waiting game is going to drive me bonkers.

She may be having contractions. Just keep an eye on her, and we'll see. It's very nerve-wracking on us humans, for sure! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

If anyone is interested, here's a video of the babies moving in her belly, I thought it was so cute. Still no active labor though [VIDEO][/VIDEO]

I just need to know if a late term pregnant cat can go into heat? I'm really confused by this cat who is due any day now. She suddenly started yowling, it looked like maybe she was going into labor (nesting, harder breathing that *could have* been light contractions, she tried to go to the litter pan 3 times within an hour, cleaning her belly & vulva) but it's confusing me. One moment she's relaxing / laying down, the next she starts crying then sitting up. She'll just sit there and yowl at the ceiling. Then go back to cleaning herself and take a nap.

*No discharge noticed but this is out of character*

There you go! She was in labor, and in pain. Some cats labor quietly, while others are very expressive (and no, pregnant cats do not go into heat, but late-term hormones can make it appear so, as you found out).

How many kittens? Pictures when you can! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Haha I feel silly thinking she could be in heat. Little brat had them on my bed while I was making coffee & "dinner". She was very upset when I had to move them but 4 as of right now, thinking she's probably done. I'll snap some pictures when I put her wet food down this afternoon. ^_^ She did a great job cleaning them up and is nursing them. So darn cute!

Great! Make sure she has wet food and water now though too. She needs to eat all she wants to recover from birthing and to make milk. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
