First off, I do not know where to post this. K don't know if this was the best section, but I just need to know the questions today!

I need help. I just got a kitten (Her name is Ebah) from Craigslist last week and she has no shots. Was not dewormed. Doesn't have anything. I schedualed an appointment for tomorrow morning to get shots and whatnot.

What should I do? I've have been reading and seeing a lot of people sayi g not to get certain shots. I can't figure this all out on my own by tomorrow morning and I just want her to be as healthy and happy as possible.

I schedualed the appointment after I asked he some questions on what to get for her. Then I looked it up and did a little reaearch. Which I know ishould have done first.

So I would like to know everyone's answers please. I would really appreciate it.... I love my Kitten. Lol

Also, the vet cannot make her get certain shots if I don't want them to? Even if we talked about it all in the phone today? I can change my mind?

I suggest rabies and distemper (kind of a standard thing there). You can have the kitten tested for feline leukemia & feline aids and based on kitty's life style - you can get immunizations for those as well.

I opted not to get those particular vaccines for my fur babies because they all tested negative and they never, ever go outside. If you are planning on having an indoor/outdoor cat it might be good to opt for them.

Is she de-wormed? If no, or unsure you probably want to get that started. Also go over what you'd like to do for flea treatment.

Hope that helps. I also hope others weigh in on this as I'm still learning loads about cat care.

Enjoy your kitty!

Rabies vaccinations are very important. Rabies is a nearly universally fatal disease and can be spread from animals to humans. Even indoor only cats aren't safe from it, since bats can easily get into houses. In my state, bats are the #1 carrier of rabies. The safest rabies shot is the newer PureVax rabies shot.

I also opt for distemper shots for my two kitties. Distemper is pretty nasty and almost always fatal. Cats don't necessarily have to go outdoors to get infected with it.

Other good things to consider are a flea/parasite preventative (such as Revolution) and microchipping.

Congratulations on your new kitty!

Agree with rabies and distemper vaccinations being very important! Make sure that the kitten gets all the vaccines in the series so it has a true immunity. Now is also the time to discuss spaying and neutering.
