Hmm I don't think so, the only thing she's eating is the soup, milk, yogurt and raw meat/organs! She doesn't have access to any grassy areas either so I don't think that she's ate any plants, we don't have any plants indoors either. I was thinking maybe it might be the antibiotics? They soften the stool a little, don't they?

Green often means that you are seeing bile because the stool moved through the GI tract too quickly. It's possible that the antibiotics are the reason. Keep an eye on it.

Hmm alright I'll keep an eye on it, hopefully it's just a one off thing and isn't too serious. Is there anything else I should look out for to make sure it isn't anything really bad? She's still cleaning herself and peeing and eating fine!

Okay so we have ANOTHER problem :-(

I was checking her ear today and I realised that the one that had the infection seems to look a little abnormal? When I push back the flap of the ear and compare them, the normal ear can be seen right into it, but the one with the infection seems to be 'blocked' with her skin. It's kind of hard to explain. It's like there are two small ball link lumps beside the normal 'lump' in her ear. So there's a total of three lumps in her infected ear compared to only one lump in the normal ear. Her hearing doesn't seem to be affected by this and she's still active, eating etc. etc. I can't see any third-eyelid (apart from when she's sleepy and it shows a little) though the infected ear is warm to touch.

I did a bit of research on it and I found that it could possibly be an ear polyp? But that doesn't make sense because the ear infection has gone away now and there's no more puss or dried blood! And the wounds have all healed. Weirdly enough the 'lumps' are where the wounds used to be, so could her skin have healed weirdly? I'm like 90% sure it's her actual skin because of the colour and because it doesn't budge if I touch it. Though she doesn't let me touch it for long and wriggles away before I can examine it for a long time.

There are no neurological signs of a polyp either, her pupils respond to light properly and all of that, and her eyelids aren't droopy. I asked Mum about it and she said that she'd be okay and that it was nothing to worry about but I can't help to be worried about it possibly being a polyp :-( I'm hoping that maybe it's just something she was born with? But I can't remember if it was there or not when she originally came.

I'll tag a few of the admins to see if they know what it could be @catwoman707   @StefanZ

It sounds like scar tissue.
Hmm alright, should she be alright seeing as the infections cleared up? If it was a polyp the infection would come back, right? I heard that polyps are generally rare so I'm hoping it's just scar tissue. How long generally do polyps take to form?

Yes, this happens when the ear suffers an injury caused by infection, etc, usually an ongoing issue will cause the ear to do this, thickening, folding, even cauliflower ear, which is the extreme of what you are seeing.

Would you believe I had a new feral cat show up at one of my colonies I have TNR'd at and care for, who I could not even think about getting near and was trap-smart, who started out with scabs from scratching at his ear, as it finally healed it became like cauliflower, it stayed this way for a couple months, then t=one time when I showed up to feed there, his ear was gone! Yes, GONE! That was a first for me let me tell you.....no hole, nothing but new skin and fur growing.

Crazy huh?!

I have also rescued a few homeless/uncared for cats with earmites turned infection, once I got them healed their ears were changed, so this is likely what you are seeing.

Ooooh yes I remember cauliflower ear, Cipher, one of my rescues got it due to a hematoma because he'd scratch at his ear so much (he had mites when I rescued him). But this is like inside the actual ear, when you push back the flappy bit? It doesn't seem to bother her much though and she doesn't scratch anymore, I'll keep an eye on it though to make sure the infection doesn't come back -- today's the last day of antibiotics, too.

So what his ear just fell off?! Without any blood or anything??? That seems really strange to me omg... if it wasn't diseased before it fell off, where did his ear go?!

Alright, I'm hoping it's not a polyp :-) I think I'm just worrying too much, I'll keep an eye on it none the less though. And maybe her ears are hot because it's so humid over here? I live in Asia and the weather is HORRID in the summer :-( I checked my other cats' ears and theirs are a little warm too, so I'm guessing it's just normal. She also has lots of energy seeing as she's a kitten so doesn't know when to stop! I think she's just overheating.

She's doing good! Still active and playing and eating and pooping! She's bossing my other two around a lot!

Though her ear is starting to worry me a lot :-(

I was holding her today and my arm knocked the bald patch around her ear and she SCREAMED. I looked in her ear and saw greenish/yellowish pus oozing out of it, it seemed to be very thick too. I pressed the bald-patch again and even MORE pus came out! She stopped yelking after a while and I cleaned it all up, and it was then that I realised that her ear had been swollen (it's much more obvious now because her skin has gone all flabby and loose, I don't know why I didn't notice this before!)

I'm really confused because I haven't missed a single dose of the antibiotics, but they've obviously not seemed to work much on her ear :-( Should I try and find a stronger antibiotic? Mum's adamant that we try a homeopathic remedy but I REALLY think we should take her to a vet. We're going to be taking her to the University either Friday (I have a paper tomorrow so I can't go then) or Tuesday (Mum's going to be away for the weekend, as usual). I'm voting for Friday, tbh.

Also, Mum says I should continue 'draining' the pus out by gently squeezing the swollen area, is this a good idea? I realised that before I did this the bald patch had been really swollen, I thought it just looked odd because she was bald! The infection also explains why her ear is so hot...

Another thing, does anyone have any reccomendations for an ear drop ointment? Anything that works for humans and cats too? Or anything that just works for cats (I'll see if we can get it in the pet shops over here, fingers crossed). I really really REALLY hope that the vet knows what he's talking about when I go to see him, if he doesn't then I don't know what to do :-( I really thought the Amoxicillin was working! The white pus had stopped with just 3 doses, but now this yellowy stuff has come and I'm really worried :-(

I suppose the fact that she's eating and acting normal is a good thing though, it shows that she's not too bothered by it. But I still want to make sure she's 100% better ASAP.

Perhaps continue with another round of the antibiotic. The fact it popped and is draining is good. Sounds like the infection has been responding to the antibiotic. It may need more time on the antibiotic if it was that infected.

I'd be cautious about putting anything in her ear. See what the university vet says when you go.

She looks so much better since being on the antibiotic.

Okay I'll continue with the antibiotic! Do you think I should increase the doseage, or keep it the same? Oh good, that's a relief, I thought the infection had come back all over again! :-(

Hmm alright, I'll see what he says!

Ikr! She looks so much more alert and her nose isn't crusty anymore either :-) She occasionally gets 'sleep' around her eyes but that's it! No sneezing or anything :-)

I'm just catching the last few posts here, which antibiotic is she on and what is her original dose?

If she has gained a decent amt of weight since she first started them she may need a slight increase.

It is very good that it is draining now.

Best if you can keep it soft rather than scab over while it's draining all the infection out, if you have a topical antibiotic ointment (rather than cream) I would keep a thin coat on it to keep it soft.

Otherwise use a warm wet cloth a few times a day to wipe it clear gently.

Awe, little Sparrow is looking so good! [emoji]10084[/emoji]️ You have done such a great job with your kitties with such limited vet assistance! Your mother seems wonderfully supportive and I am happy to hear that you will be seeing a vet (hopefully one you will like and approve of ;) ).

Love your updates! can you post some pics of all of your kitties? :D

Hi,
so glad to hear that you found a vet you are comfortable trying! I really hope he/she is great. I just found this page on 1-800petmeds and it should give you an idea about what the vet should know and prescribe for her ear http://www.1800petmeds.com/education/treat-dog-cat-ear-infection-6.htm

It says that topical antibiotics can be used in the ear, but are not safe unless the eardrum is intact, so the doctor should be able to let you know. Also, I remember reading that when you have a suspension of antibiotics like you made, it is only good for 14 days. It might be gone before that, but just wanted to mention that in case you didn't know. She looks great and I think it helps her if you help her to get that pus out.
