We got a two year old from the humane society. Midway through his second day in the house he began to drool constantly. Alot. He hides in dusty areas all day. I took him outside and he stopped drooling. What is causing this and what should we do. No access to vet until Monday. Thank you for your help

Did you recently treat him for fleas? Anything he could have got into? Did he start drooling again after you brought him back in? Sounds like he got a taste of something he wasn't supposed to.

Nothing as far as treatment. Yes he drools within an hour after he come back inside. Our house is clean but he is hiding behind the washer and it's dusty there

Hi there,

I know this thread is 2 weeks old but please ask your vet to check your cat's blood work. I had a foster kitten, 3 weeks old, that would go through these drooling spells. Turns out, he had a congenital liver shunt. Drooling can be a sign of a lot of things, some mild and some severe. Good luck and let us know how your kitty does!
