Hi everybody. I have a twelve year old cat with hyper-thyroidism who is now responding well to treatment. She has to take one tablet a day which we hide in a treat stick. This until now has been a successful way of getting the tablet into her. However recently she's started to discover the tablet and is becoming increasingly suspicious. I thought i'd give Greenies pillpockets a go due to better coverage of the tablet. Nobody sells these in the uk. I have ordered one packet here from an online seller to see if she likes them but they are extortionate to buy. I was wondering if anybody would be prepared to help me by sending a few packets over to me in the uk to make it more economical. I think they're around $4.99 in the US for 45.
I was wondering how much it would cost to send 4 packs over to me by airmail ??? If anyone could be kind enough to help I would appreciate it very much. Similarly if there is anything here in the uk somebody needs it certainly could be a reciprocal arrangement.
Many thanks.

ViviTreats seem to be the nearest thing to Greenies Pill Pockets in the UK. They're pretty widely available too (at least, online). I know they're technically for dogs, but I can't see anything in the ingredients that would be a problem for cats.

Personally, I've always found paté works well for pill hiding - I make a little ball with the pill in the centre. It helps to feed a few at a time, with only one containing the pill - makes the cat less suspicious ;) Buttering the pill before wrapping can help too, as it seals in any medicine-y smell and taste.

Many Thanks for the above links which I have seen before during previous searches. The vet UK ones are for dogs and wonder if the flavour for card would be enticing enough. The Greenies pill pockets from what I see in America retail at around $4.99 (£2.80) for 45
as to around the £5.00 + Mark over here. Our cat now has to be on one tablet a day for life. I'm on a low income and need to be as careful as possible with funds. It would require sending me 4 packets just twice a year via the cheapest shopping method which I think is airmail? It would help a lot if somebody was prepared to help.
Thank you for the reply above - it was very kind of you.

I've had things shipped from the US before - the biggest hurdle is that even the cheapest postage from there to the UK is relatively expensive.

I've just compared the ViviTreats ingredients to Greenies, and they're not that different. The biggest difference is simply that Greenies contain wheat and corn, and ViviTreats are just have rice. I really wouldn't worry about feeding them to cats.

Just done some more searching. These treats might be ideal http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_treats_catnip/vitakraft/451417. Reviews say they're soft and perfect for pill hiding, as well as being yummy to the cats. Definitely cheaper than Greenies ;)

FYI - Zooplus is fantastic if you're on a budget. I buy 90% of my cat food from them, and it's saved me so much. Definitely worth investigating :)

I give the dog ones to my cat and he loves it. The dog pills are bigger and the "hole" is much more suited to fitting the pill that he needs. If the UK dog pills work with your budget, I honestly suggest considering that instead of paying horrendously extra for shipping for the cat one in the US.
