My cat has Feline Leukemia Virus

My cat Mad Eye has been diagnosed and he's only 4 years old. I've researched a studied all the ins and outs of what FeLV is and I know the biological make up of I. But I can't picture in my head what it's going to actually do to him. Everything I read was so scientific that it was hard to relate to. Can anyone tell my what's actually going to happen to my boy? Anything at all will be helpful.

Any idea what stage of the disease he is in?

My local shelter has a whole room full of cats with FeLV. They have cats that live out their lives there.  I don't know much about it myself, but here's a link to their page:
