So Darragh is in labor. But I don't know if things are going OK or not. She seemed to have some sort of sac protruding from her for a while, but she keeps walking around and it didn't go any further than that for the last hour or so. She goes in the nest that I made her and stays in there for a bit. Then she comes back out, uses the litter box, which needed to be changed today but I was in too much pain & too tired. So I'm not prepared at all. I'm worried about my girl. It's 5:45 am here & I've got $11 to my name and $1 in my wallet, so I literally can't go anywhere or do anything at all. I've got nothing & no way to get to any sort of emergency services. I still owe the emergency people in NYC money from when my cat Phoenix was sick back in '07. So I don't know what to do.

I'm probably not going to sleep b/c I've got really bad insomnia and am now worried about my girl. So any advice. I am so unprepared. The harder I try to get prepared the worse things are. My BFF is supposed to PayPal me some money tomorrow, well Friday so that I can buy her some more food & stuff. But I'm not doing well. I guess the time has come for me to find her a foster home or something. I guess I'll have to deal with that. I'm really sad and upset as I really thought that I'd be able to take care of her
.

***UPDATE***

My first grand kitty was born a few mins ago and mewing strongly. I started encouraging her again, she'd been really quiet for the past 20 mins or so then did some Reiki on her then lo and behold I heard a mew of the first fluffy jellybean. They kind of look like little mice when they're born huh? Anyway, much relief and anticipation as I wait on all of my grand kitties to be born. Yay! So relieved.

Wanted to update everyone so I wouldn't get everyone all worried. This is so new to me. When I was growing up my cat Maria lived outside and just went off had them and then I didn't see them until they were running around. So I didn't know nothin' bout birthin' no kitties. LOL

Congratulations!

As for finding a foster for the new family, that might be for the best. Kittens are really expensive! Hopefully a foster would be able to arrange for spaying / neutering.

For now, mom cat needs lots of fresh water, dry food 24/7, and wet food 3 times a day to nurse her babies. Thank you for caring for her. If you live in NY, you should be able to find rescue groups that are no-kill and will take them. Just make some calls. Or they may ask you to foster, but they will provide cat food and vet services. Ask about that! Let us know what happens. Does mom have cat food to eat in the meantime?

Yes & my BFF just sent me some money by PayPal, so I'm still good at least as far as supplies for a while.

Here's some new pix of my new wee ones & the mom...

When I came out again this morning after a brief nap, there were these 2 little lovelies all nestled in. She had one stillborn one. I think. Poor wee tabby. But the dark one looks a bit like a tortie. Just 2 and one of my BFFs already wants one. Maybe I can convince him to take both...

I think this might be her 1st time. Don't worry guys I'm keeping her in until I can arrange for her spaying when she's ready. And I think she must've just gotten this way b/c it's exactly the gestation time from the day I brought her iside. If only I'd been able to scoop her up sooner...

So we have 2 healthy wee ones, maybe a boy & a girl. I guess we'll see...

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not in the city anymore, but not far. I'll probably contact Kitty Kind. I used to help a friend foster for them years ago. I've got the scoop on the no-kill options.

Aww, how sweet! I'm so sorry about the still-born, but so happy mom is doing well with her 2 babies. It sounds like you are extremely caring, and will do your best with this family.

It's so awesome that your BFF sent money so you can buy food for mom. So very important! Please thank him for us, and adopting both kittens would mean a smooth transition for them, as they'd have each other to snuggle and play with. I often recommend adopting in pairs. It's so much better for the kittens. Will you be keeping mom?

Also, they should not leave mom for at least 8 weeks, and preferably 10-12, as mom teaches manners and they will be better adjusted overall if they stay with her longer. Our behavior forums are filled with questions about training kittens who were taken from mom too soon, and the kittens are clueless about soft paws and biting and scratching, and the humans have to deal with it.

Mom can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old, but she may go into heat again sooner. You'll have to live through that (no fun), but she'll be okay. Just do NOT let her out!

Where in NY do you live? We can help you locate low-cost spay services.

Thank you so much for what you are doing! Please post any questions you may have on this same thread. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
