MY SISTER'S CAT ATE XMAS RIBBON, STARTED SHOWING SYMPTONS OF NOT EATING AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE VET WAS FOUND TO HAVE JAUNDICE. THE VET IS SUGGESTING SURGERY AS SOME BUT NOT ALL THE RIBBON WAS REMOVED, ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT SHOW UP ON THE XRAY. HAS ANYONE GONE THRU THIS DECISION OF SURGERY?

If your vet is recommending the surgery it is wise to follow through with it. Ribbon is an awful obstruction in a cat's system and it would be prudent to be sure that all the ribbon is located.

Neo ate a ribbon once, we didn't know he did it until we saw it (he started to pass it). We were VERY lucky and the vet just pulled it out no problem. If he would have needed surgery we were going to have it done. I would do what ever the vet thinks is best, unless you feel really uncomfortable about it, then I would get a second opion.
