Just a few days ago I noticed that my cat was not eating, I rescued her almost a year ago,  she is not running around, now she is usually not a super energetic cat, but I noticed all she does is lay around like she is weak and tired. She has a slight fever, has no appetite, a tiny runny nose, and just lays around sleeping.  She is 1 yrs

I have done so much research in the past days and she may have an URI or the Flu or Cold

Is it possible to have just a few of the systems in either the URI or the Flu or Cold, like maybe a mid case? I have contacted the vet a little while ago and I am waiting on a response.

Here is what I am doing so far.

Hand feeding her, I mix 3 oz canned food with 1 teaspoon of replacement milk powder, water, and a one multivitamin plus from GNC for cats, together and puree it.

I then divide that up into 1 ounce sections, I place 1 ounce in a sandwich bag, the kind that has no zipping lock as it is easier. I then at feeding time cut a tiny hole in the corner of the bag and slowly feed her the ounce.  Is feeding her 1 ounce at a time to much for her at one sitting?

When she has very warm ears, I place a damp towel over her to bring her fever down a bit. I know having the fever is the best but then she lays like a zombie cat, so I try to keep her as much as alert as I can, I will let her have a slight fever to kill what is ailing her.

I carry her to the litter box and she does go both 1 and 2 and they both look good.

My questions are, can they have either the URI or Flu or Cold without all the symptoms?

How long will it take to fully go away?

How much food should I feed her and how many times a day?

If I buy her Lysine to boost her immune system will she have to many vitamins in her? I do give her 1 1/2 GNC Multivitamin Plus for cats and what ever is in the Replacement Milk powder.

I don't want to over feed her or give her to many vitamins.

Thank you for any help you can offer until I hear from the vet.

I know I am asking too many questions but this is my first cat and I am freaking out a bit.

I really think it would be best to get her to the vet. From what I understand you should take it's temp with a rectal thermometer for 2 minutes (i recommend 2 people do it for safety) and anything over 103 needs a vet visit. If you have to feed her and carry to litter box I'd get her to the vet.

You can put your ear to her chest ( if you don't have a stethoscope ) and it'll tell you if it's a respiratory but I'm overly cautious. I'd take kitty to the vet. My male cat I had before got a respiratory infection and he got bad fast. Leaving him overnight had me rushing him to the vet for meds and an IV.

Thank you for the info, she is not super hot, just a little warm, I don't think I have a rectal one I have to look.

Cats temps generally run up to 102.5 normally. My concern is if she's not really wanting to eat or drink. If she's lost her energy it's best to have a vet check her out.

I was able to get into the vet today, thank goodness it is just a cold, she has no other signs like discharge from the eyes or nose so all they gave her was a B12 shot. I did have to hand feed her after we got home. But what does a Vitamin B shot do for cats, does it stimulate something in them to give them back their urge to eat?

My cat has never had a b shot but from what I've read it's essential for them to have b for energy and more. Maybe your vet felt your cat was lacking this age it would get kitty ove the cold. I hope kitty is doing much better.

This is my first at this, I never had a cat before so I am glad it was just a cold. Thank you, Kitty is doing a little better, she is doing more each day so I guess it is just a waiting game at this point.
