So I live in England so letting cats outside is a everyday thing. That's why I always find it hard to tell if a cat has a owner or is a stray. I have about 15 cats that I commonly see in my area and garden. I myself have a indoor cat. Yesterday evening at about 4pm I heard a piercing meow coming from my garden. I looked out and a cat that I have NEVER seen before in my area is in my garden and VERY CLEARLY in heat. She was yowling away and calling for a tom. Thankfully most if the cats in our area are spayed an neutered. However there is this one male cat who I'm sure up until now had a home that isn't (will get to the later). So my first thought was that the cat isn't from here but has gone on a quest for a baby daddy because like I said she's clearly in heat. I Definetly protest to this but it's not my cat and there's only so much you can do lol about spaying when he not my animal. So I though the cat would leave after a few minutes but instead she stayed there all night and has been here for two days now. I have never seen her before so I'm worried incase someones dumpted her. She also looks quite old, I'd say about 3 or 4 so its not a didn't realise she had her first best moment. The crazy thingid she is only staying around my garden and the surrounding gardens. I know that no one has a cat there because I asked so I have no idea who the owner is. I left a pouch of food for her and she wouldn't come close to me but ate the whole thing. I find this unusual because I thought cats in heat went of heat unless there really hungry. She's not really skinny. Now back to the tom. We have a cat that was clearly not cared for that usevti roam our area. I tried to catch him but he never stayed out in our garden long enough. He roamed a LARGE distance. I'm talking 10 roads away where I've seen him. I could always be positive it was him because he had a very clear break in his tall which looks quite nasty like it needed treatment. However one day he disappeared and when I did see him again half the tail was gone. So I assumed that someone had trapled him. Fixed his tail, neutered him and released hjn again. However later tht evening I saw him mating the cat in heat. So he's not been neutered which I find white surprising. I don't what to do with this situation? Help please?

I would definitely try to trap the female.  Do people in your area use micro chips?  I would then take to the vet to see about a micro chip and proceed with  a spay.  If the cat has been in your garden for days, it is possibly not owned.  I would concentrate on the female right now and then try for the male again.  Maybe you will catch the male too.

My guess is she got thrown out when she began her heat yowls.  If you can help her, it would be swell.   Do also a spaying as soon you can, yourself or with help of Animals society, whatever.

Yeah everyone I know microchips there cats including my self. Hopefully she has a home. But my guess is that if the owner hasn't bothered to spay her then they wouldn't have microchipoed her either. Will try and animal rescue that is a few minutes away about trapping her. What would we do if she doesn't have a microchip but is owned. How would we tell?

If she is not micro chipped.  I would have her examined to see if she is spayed and/or pregnant.  Then I would do the responsible thing.  If she has been consistently in your garden for quite awhile, then I would consider her a stray.  I would then spay her if she has not been spayed.

Yep okay. Shes definetly not spayed because she's in heat. So then shes defo pregnant right now as well. I'm sure the vet can still do a emergency spay promptly though.
