Hi, I'm MackieMac, servant to 3 cats: Tara, a 9 year old Himalayan... Schrödinger, a 10 year old Tonkinese look-alike... and Skye, an almost 14 year old Birman mix. I live in Texas with a husband who also loves cats.

We love the Warriors  youth-fiction series by Erin Hunter, and our cats are warriors, LOL! Skye (also known as SkyStar) is a true Clan leader. Tara (also known as Cloudpelt) is the deputy, and Schrödinger (aka Leafshadow) is... well, he just is.

I sure do, and thanks for the welcome!

Here is Tara. She's almost 10 (birthday May 4). She's a blue point Himmy according to her paperwork, but she really looks more lilac than blue in person. She's little but fearless!

We kid that she looks like a barn owl. She does, doesn't she?
This is Skye, our gray girl. She's almost 14. She came to us after the death of our beloved Persian named Nirvana, who died from a reaction to heartworms. Yes, she was confirmed with heartworm disease at the age of 12 and died suddenly 6 months later. Necropsy showed it was an overwhelming "allergic response", most likely as a worm died off, according to her attending vet. But sweet Skye has been a blessing. She's our indoor-outdoor kitty and she loves her garden flowers.

And last but not least, this is Schrödinger (or "Tweeter"). He's almost 11. His assigned b-day is June 19... or what is known as Juneteenth in Texas, and Father's Day this year. He was one of the all-too-common cases of "dumped kitten". He came to us one morning at the clinic from a lady who said she found him in her bushes. We figured he was about 4 weeks old at the time, at the oldest. When he came to us, he was a funny-looking little kitten, a tennis ball with feet! We kept him in the clinic for a couple of weeks to be sure he was able to eat solids and use a litter box and that he had no major illnesses like FIV, FeLV or what have you. He was just fine and he got the food bowl figured out right away. At 6 weeks, when he was cleared, I brought him home for socialization and preparation for adoption. He was already a friendly little thing, and he loved being held by every member of our staff. He just needed an intro to adult cats and being in a multi-cat home.

Here he is on the day he came home:

After his "welcome home" bath. That is a washcloth, not a towel! He was tiny! Age about 6 weeks:

He's a little clown! None of these photos of "Tweeter" are staged-- he is a natural comedian!

He did this all by himself (about 5 months old)

CAT: The other white meat!

He absolutely loves buckets, bags, boxes, baskets...

And he is a total love bug. His favorite perch-- he loves his mom!

Handsome man!

"The Purr-minator!" (Yes, I like playing with Photoshop!)

The photo below is NOT Schrödinger ("Tweeter", Tweets or Tweetus), but a dead ringer. This is a photo from Wiki and other places that is a representative photo of a natural point Tonkinese. We don't know for certain if he really IS a Tonk, but the resemblance and behaviors are spot on so we think he probably is a Tonk. In certain light, his blue eyes do look quite aqua, like the signature Tonkinese aqua eyes, but in most light they appear Siamese blue. However, pointed Tonks can and often do carry blue eyes like their Siamese ancestors. But this guy is an EXACT double of "younger Schrödinger". The ghost stripes on the forelegs are commonly seen in adolescent Tonks, just before the full color kicks in.

I

So there is my group. :)

Thank you, kittylove! Actually, that was a washcloth! He was TINY then. He's... um, quite a bit bigger than that now, LOL!

Tara's actually the little one. She's not even 7 pounds. Skye is about 8.5 pounds, but she has lost quite a bit of weight from her peak at 10 pounds. It's mostly muscle mass, as her blood work is pretty darn good for almost 14. One newer early renal test is just above the upper limit, but the creatinine and BUN are still solidly normal and her activity and eating/drinking are great. She's a legend around here!
