Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today question is -

Do you have any unfinished projects going on?

I have quite a few. I always have quite a few. :lol3:

We've been painting our house for the past few years. With it warming up, that will be starting up again.

I've been slowly cleaning all kitchen and bath cabinets and putting new liner, etc. down.

We've been slowly going through totes and boxes in our attic and cellar and getting rid of what we can.

We are getting rid of the wooden railroad ties around some of our gardens. Once we finish painting a side, we get rid of them. The ones in the back of the house have to go.

That's just a few from a very large list. :lol3:

My whole life is an unfinished project.  If I counted up all the things which my house needs done, I'd cry.

Trying to get to some of the larger/more expensive ones this year after saving up for a while.  Front walkway is a tripping hazard (it's original to the house built in 1925) - that goes in sometime in May.  Doing research for a new front door which I hope to have installed before the year is up - the door isn't original, and wasn't properly made to fit the opening so it really leaks in cold and heat badly.  Plus, it's just solid core wood and dismal looking.

I still need to get the fireplace fixed.  We had a small fire under inside the ash pit over the winter, the wall has to be opened up.

Some minor electrical issues are at the top of the list this year also.

There is SO much more.  I long for the day when we can afford to finally get real window treatments.  We've been living with ugly curtains and temporary shades for 5 years now but covering nearly 30 windows is very expensive!

The list is exhausting.  I hire out for everything.  We just can't be bothered nor do we have the time and energy at this stage of life.

I still need to do paint touch up in my kitchen.. that I've been neglecting for the past few months (I know it takes a few minutes.. but ugh, lol)

I need to put reflective film on my bedroom window to help reduce the insane heat.

and some unfinished art projects that I just lost motivation for to complete.

I started painting the trim and the 4 doors in my hallway almost a year and a half ago. I got halfway through a door and just stopped. I could not paint anymore. So I currently have a door that is 1/2 cream, and 1/2 bright white. I still have to paint the trim in my bathroom too. I don't mind painting walls at all, but trim painting is the bane of my existence.

The bedroom. Still the bedroom. Who would have ever thought that would take so long? The doors are done (stained and varnished) as is the woodwork. It's just a matter of finding the time to get them hung and the woodwork installed. Then we can put in the floorboards. And then it's finished (other than hanging pictures, finding the blinds, and such).

We're creating a 'cat bathroom'.  Yes, really.
We have a small place outside the laundry room that is perfect for putting in litter boxes and supplies so we can get them out of our kitchen area.  We got the cement poured for the floor, the walls are built, we have the window to put in but haven't done it yet, and have to have a door custom made because of the odd size and space for it.  Who knows when it will be finished.

I've got compost starter ready to go.  Last time I tried to compost, I made a stinky slimy mess out of it so we dumped it all and I want to start over.  I've got compost starter and dry materials but haven't actually started doing anything with it yet.

I've got seed starting trays ready, and packets of seeds but haven't started the veggie seeds yet for the garden.

I'm going through bookcases getting rid of outdated books I've had for years.  They're piled up on the floor ready to go....somewhere....

As @AbbysMom  said, those are just a few items from a long, long list.

Oh my gosh, that cat bathroom idea is brilliant. We have our main bathroom to renovate also, but that's on the back burner.  I keep wondering where to put litter boxes. Right now, we have 2 in the bathroom which is ok, since we don't use the tub at all - they rest near it  sideways, and are not (too) in the way.  Nobody other than us ever uses that bathroom unless my fiance's daughter is visiting and she has cats, so it isn't like we're concerned about her opinion LOL.

However, I'd love to create a niche for them once we re-do the room.  Something easy to access and out of the way.  The bathroom is surprisingly large considering how small the house is.

As time goes by we have other plans for the house, and being able to expand it slightly is in the back of my head if we decide to stay put (who knows what will happen once we retire).  Kitty potty area would be a god send!

Nothing. I am completely up to date on everything

I've always wanted to say that.

My to do list.

Pressure wash the outside of the house and the screen room

Paint the shutters

Paint the concrete floor in the screen room

Get rid of a lot of stuff I have stored in the screen room so I can let the cats go out there to explore and chase lizards

Take a truckload of stuff  for donation to the thrift store (at least one)

Finish taking all the rocks out of the front garden and put actual plants there

Discuss not dying with said plants

Put new floor in master bathroom

Fix sink in DD's bathroom

I don't know how to use quotes from prior responses so to BETSYGEE and SIVYALEAH --- We created a cat bathroom when our daughter moved out of the house. Her old bedroom became our cat bathroom! We have hardwood floors but have purchased two large area rugs  - rubberized on the bottom and indoor-outdoor material on top. We got them at Job Lot (if you're familiar) so they weren't overly costly. It was nothing to get all of the boys we had at the time to use their boxes in that room! With the six cats, we have two of those rather silly looking super-large litter boxes and one medium sized box. This has suited them all quite well and keeping fingers crossed here, they never miss. The bedroom is large and their dry food bowls are there as well ... across from the litter boxes of course.  All of our supplies are in the closet in that bedroom and we love it that way. Even their dry food is kept in an old bookcase in that room. I can't tell you how convenient it is to have the boxes in one area, which isn't far from our own bathroom... so needless to say, it's quite easy for my husband and I to keep the cats' boxes clean by eyeballing them after we finish with ourselves.

I loved this idea and it has worked out well even for our youngest two cats when we got them each as babies. They simply were shown to the boxes once and that was enough! Since the room is upstairs, we rarely if ever get any sort of odor ... unless one of the guys drops a super-bomb. We also use the Litter-Genie (not the electronic toilet thing) ... and we swear by this device! It's amazing at keeping odor down... as everything is dropped into the lower bin. Of course, it takes a human to USE the Litter-Genie.  Best of luck with your cat-bathrooms!  Ours worked out GREAT!

As to this actual thread? We need a kitchen redo BADLY. All original flooring and cabinets as well as counters and sink are still sitting in our kitchen and the house is a good 30 years old. We have been saving and are drawing up plans but dread the actual work!!

@Bflatblues     Love your bathroom ideas.  My friends and family all just roll their eyes when I say we're building a cat bathroom, but I should have known that on this site, it wouldn't even raise an eyebrow.

(By the way, if you put an @ in front of the member's name, they get a notification that you mentioned them in a post, and here  is a tutorial on using the quotes.)

...with the cats...
for me, there's always firewood -- moving, stacking, trimming to usable size.

i also noticed last summer that i've got a second butterfly bush starting right against the foundation of my house, so i plan to transplant that early this summer to the back yard.

i'm going to install a window security grate on one of my first floor windows sometime in the next few weeks. this will allow me to leave my window open for fresh air at night during the hot weather months, without worrying about burglars or intruders. it's almost always nice and cool at night here, even during the hottest parts of the summer.

this is a 'saving for' year for the next set of home improvements, so nothing major being done here this year.

and there's always decluttering. it seems like a constant battle, keeping things uncluttered!

I have a plethora of unfinished projects going on.  I am the unfinished project queen.  Right now, three counted cross stitch projects (waiting till I can afford glasses...I can't see the dratted patterns), some furniture painting, moving some things in the house around, Hemming the drapes and stenciling their borders, and a couple of others.

My whole life is an unfinished project.
That sums it up pretty well :lol3:

Of course the first thing that came to mind was work. I've got about a half dozen small projects going on at once and I'm losing my mind, with some pretty big ones I'm having to already plan for looming over the horizon.

At home, I think I've been planning to clean my bedroom for the last few years now :lol3: It got a reboot after the pipe above my room burst in January of 2014, but I'd like for it not take my room and possessions being destroyed to actually get things done.

Hoping to get my room cleaned up before summer hits. Have to get all the stuff that Maple "blessed" out of there (like the chaise lounge, need my brother for that).

That sums it up for me too.  No one warned me adulthood would basically be crossing 2 things off; adding 3 more.

i'm still cleaning my desk off from Monday when I made my Question of the Day.  What does that tell you?  (Thats a rhetorical question.  Please dont answer!!)

I have paint chips tapped to my bedroom wall with no actual date set to paint.  I'm going to change my style before we get around to it.  I kind of want furniture first too.  And we are at almost 13 years of marriage and still using a hodge podge of pieces I grew up what Nathan found at various sales when he was single.  So that shows you where we are on that priority list.

My garden is still 1/3 weeded.  The weather hasn't cooperated.

The to-be-folded laundry pile is taking on a life of its own.

DH really does not like leaving things unfinished so I have to give him credit for the things we have finished here.  Some things just haven't been started because we know we can't finish them in a timely manner.
We're creating a 'cat bathroom'.  Yes, really.

DH wants to do this so bad!  Not an addition on the house; but a little room that opens into the garage so we can scoop out there.  He hasn't sold me on the idea yet!

Yes. Too much to name..some are;

Replace back door and pull out doorjam and install new jam and door. but because its 30x72 I have not been able to locate a complete kit for it. I can find 32x72/74 but not the actual size. I don't know how to fix this. Had a guy give me a quote of $800 and the door is $700, so for now I am leaving it until its so bad I have to pay to have it done. Trying to see if Jon will take on this project but he doesn't seem to want to do any major work jobs-I have asked him but he didn't seem to want to do it. Last summer/fall was a disaster-I had a company replace roof and screw it up so bad I had to pay double to get it fixed. they did ok but took 2 weeks. what is it with contractors taking forever? so I don't really want to deal with anymore contractors. And the 1st guy was highly rated on Angies list. forget it.

So that's one job.

replace the deck

paint the walls-we have been here 10 yrs and whoever painted the walls used such a thin layer that you can see the paneling through the paint. So I need to do this. I can handle paint. Its wood work and cutting and trim I have no patience for. Give me a wrench anyday or a welding job and I can do it..but picky butt tolerances I just don't have the patience. Oh and I will dig all day long in the yard if I don't have to do chores like cleaning etc. I am weird.

So then the rock walkway needs to be redone and I really should get it finished this year. put it off two years. but then I have to go buy the rocks and actually make a decision. And what if I screw it up? I don't know if I want to just get it tar and no more dirt but then it will crack and get crappy anyways so I should just do a small part at a time.

And the gardens...need compost this year.

Pull out the creeping hawk weed that's just a major pain in the butt.

That's just a few things off the top of my head.
