Do you let your cat sleep in your bed with you at night?

This is going to sound sad lol.

I had a queen sized bed before. When I needed to buy a new bed I bought a king sized bed for me and the cats because all 8 of them like to sleep with me and the queen sized bed was cramped. With the King sized bed I am STILL allowed one small edge of the bed, like if I roll the wrong way i'll be on the floor lol! To top it off now all of my decorative pillows are spread all along my bed bed because NOW they want to sleep on them rather than the bed it's self. I have tried positioning the pillows more towards the other side of the bed so I can have some room but I swear they slide those pillows up against me in the middle of the night. It got to the point they would argue over pillows because I have 4 decorative pillows so I had to give them my other tempur pedic pillow and 2 decorative pillows off the couch lol.

Yes, Swanie does, but I can't get Cricket to come on the bed with us.  I wish I could. I seriously doubt it's bad for your health. Like someone upthread said, the purring helps me sleep.

My Special Tuxedo has the option to jump up at the

foot of the bed, but that's his choice.  Most of the

time he's sleeping on the dresser looking out the

window or visiting his younger buddy Baby Brucie

on the first floor.  Still not comfortable to let Baby

Brucie to roam around the house leash free.  Will

test him in a month when all hell is probably going

to break lose with these kitties chasing, playing,

jumping and knocking things over.  Willing to see

what happens.   Why do cats want to sleep with

you.  Can be for any number of reasons, but I

guess that's a good sign that they are comfortable

sleeping in bed with you, as long as your partner

doesn't get jealous, well then we'll have a problem

and have to compromise.  Is it unhealthy to have

your cat sleep with you.  Don't think so.  If they are

healthy, indoor kitty, I guess there shouldn't be a

problem.  Any jealous issues between your kitty(s)

and your partner, seek a kitty attorney for a free

consultation.

My Kitty Hazel doesn't sleep in bed with me, I think she prefers not to. She's able to if she wants, but she always sleeps right next to my bed on her cat bed. She's very affectionate, but she loves to spread out and sleep on the floor rather than in the bed which is a little tight.

My cat ALWAYS sleeps with me in my bed (along with my two chihuahuas). That is her favorite napping spot. I don't believe it gives you health issues, I've slept with my oldest chihuahua, Nigel, since I was 13 years old (a long time) and I've never had an unknown occurrence of health issues due to this. (I know this is a cat site but I'm giving an example of how long I've slept with a pet in my bed without problems.)

Personally, I wouldn't be able to sleep without my pets. My cat loves to lay either on my belly or snuggled next to me, and sometimes she'll even lay on Ginger, my fat chihuahua[emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

Does your cat sleep with you at night?

Do you like it or dislike it?

Do you believe what some doctors say is true, that sleeping with your pet can lead to health problems?

Where does your cat sleep in your bed?

Why do you think cats do this?

FYI, All of my cats sleep in my bed  =)
Yes, usually more than one of them, and my Chihuahua, too.  I also had a Pomeranian who slept with me, after a boost up to the bed, until he passed away last month at 14.  :(

I love it.

No, and even if I did, so can wine, bacon, and butter, and I'm not giving those up, either.  It's funny how life itself will kill you eventually, if you live long enough.  ;)

They pick different places at different times, but each one does seem to have a favorite spot.  The Chi and one cat, Mouse, generally prefer to get under the covers, although Mouse will sleep on top of me outside the comforter if it's warm in the room.  Truman, Jenny (short for Jennyanydots, as in "Cats"), and Violet are usually happy to just be near me.  Geoffrey and Lucy like to get as close as they can, and sometimes need to be moved off of my head.

They do it because they adore me, of course.  Get what you give, and all...

They don't usually all sleep with me at once.  It usually kind of depends on who got there first.

Cucumella joined us 5 years ago when she was 9 years old.  Until then she had always lived as "a garden cat" .  My husband was at the time  90 years old and walked with some difficulty so I always kept the bedroom door closed at night time as I was afraid he might stumble over her if he happened to get up during the night. But in the morning I would withdraw the curtains letting the day light into the room and Cucumella joined him in the bed all morning.

Sadly I lost my husband last year , a  couple of months after his 95th birthday. I, then, decided to let Cucumella sleep with me but the problem was that she was used to lying on my husband's chest when he was lying on his back or between his arms when he slept on his side with his arms stretched out in front of him*. But I cannot sleep on my back, I lie on my side with my arms around my pillow and my legs bent.

I have managed to let Cucumella understand that she can lie next to me and even cuddle against my chest but, while our nights were inttiated that way, some time later she would walk all over me including and specially over my head.  I would then cried out "NO Cucumella" and she would then go back to her place for sometime before she restarted her shenanigans stepping over my head and face. After  persevering during a couple of weeks I finally gave up after having received a scratch on my cheek, on my ear and even on my nose.  She did not mean to hurt me she did this out of clumsiness but I began to fear I would get an eye damaged.  Cucumella is very gentle, I have never known her to be aggressive in all these years.  I'm very sorry I had to resort to keeping her out of the bedroom at night.  She couldn't understand this and cried outside the door for a few nights. Now she is resigned to it but I find her lying behind the door  when I get up in the morning. I now put a cushion there  for her.

If anyone believes I could revert the situation and wish to offer some advice I would very much appreciate it

*How do I post a photo here?

Yes! It's just me and my kitty, and I love snuggling together at the evening and morning. Sometimes he'll bring his toys up onto the bed, which is sweet unless they're the noisy ones... which aren't so pleasant at 5am. He also likes licking and has woken me up more than once licking my face. If I need to be up early or have an important exam or something the next day, sometimes I'll keep him out of the bedroom so I can be sure I get a good night's sleep. But most of the times the best night's sleep comes with a cat curled up in bed too! :)

I'm thinking my 3 little fuzzballs help me save on my electric bill. I can keep the heat really low and count on furry heating pads to keep me warm.  :)
