Oh and I have been adding it to the KMR. I read another post where this poor girl was fostering these kittens and was so worried about them pooping. Everyone recommended olive oil or as a last resort a tiny slither of a glycerin suppository. Which we bought those also just in case. I have pure liquid glycerin also that if I had some way of administering it, works wonders for severe constipation in babies and kids. I got to thinking about the glycerin suppositories. That if the main ingredient that causes bowel movement was the glycerin, why not go straight to the source and cut out any unnecessary ingredients. I was 100% correct!! Worked better and faster! Wasn't it though? We get treated bad all the time in stores because we're not your typical blue collar peeps. We have tattoos and piercings, I have the side of my head shaved, and as you know, that does NOT make us bad people or criminals!!! Which is how we get treated bad. We can't go shopping without getting followed by workers. I've left stores in tears because of it. We NEVER do anything wrong, we're hard working, law abiding, good hearted people and yet I'm scared to death to get out or put away my reading glasses while shopping, for fear I'll be accused of putting merchandise in my purse, although they'd find it to be my reading glasses, it's still something I don't want! I'm very shy and quite nervous in public and don't want anymore attention on me. It's sad. I was just saying last Friday when we were buying more kitty supplies and the worker came over and did the typical shelf straightening up while I was looking, that I feel like I need to cover my ink and wear pant suits just to try and blend in while shopping!! Funny thing about it, we make twice as much money as the people who are policing us, I'm almost 43 yrs old but I dress and look young so I get treated like a kid thug. I'm sorry, I know this is a thread for my mama kitty and her babies. I just needed to tell you that how he was treated, is all too common for us and it gets so, so tiring. I was denied to try on bras once. Yes denied! Until Jess had a fit and then they were overly nice to me. I cried that time too. Anyway... Jess said he WILL find it tonight come Hell or high water!!! Thank God!

About another pharmacy for the cream other than Walmart, we're using a Gift Card. Speaking of Gift Cards, We are really having trouble paying for everything needing paid out all at once!! Like that KMR went FAST and the bigger they get, the more it's going to take. We've decided to change vets which the best one is almost a 40 min drive from here so Teddy's getting Neutered Monday now instead of yesterday that the vet by our house scheduled. Jess Parents are helping pay for that but we had to put off all our other bills because we just had a huge unexpected expense a week before the kittens were born and we've not been able to bounce back from yet because of all the added expenses since the births. Not just the KMR that only lasted 3 days since needing to offer some to mama daily as well, but nutritional gel, probiotic, digital scale (our non-digital one was horrible) You know all the added expenses a litter of kittens accumulates (esp one this size) :9: So let me get to the point. Jess recommended we set up a GoFund Me account. Is there a place here on the site where I can explain the situation and let ppl know about the GoFund Me account? Thx again!!

I'm sorry for your financial difficulties. Kittens are very expensive! I took in a pregnant stray last year who had 4 kittens, and I kept mom and all the kittens, so I am well aware of costs! I believe the Go Fund Me accounts go in the Cat SOS forum. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Also, I think you can mention it and put a link to it in this thread. bubblzmay bubblzmay

I didn't read everything, but the lanolin is with all of the other nursing stuff in the baby aisles. I'm sorry finances are so tight, kittens are so expensive!

Thank you so much! Yes, animals are very expensive. Momma and her two brothers are kittens from a stray we took in last year. We kept all 3 and rehomed their mother. We already had Molly who was our first adopted baby when me and Hubbs got engaged. She will be 8 in July. Then came Rain our cockateil. When we moved here to this apt complex our landlord allows pets so ppl get cats and then they either move and can't take them so they leave them or just put them out because they don't want them for whatever reason. Then we take care of them. We feed them and provide shelter for them. We built cat boxes, insulated them and run heating pads outside through our windows. Then we insulate the crack in our window that the outdoor cord goes through and have to secure the window from being open. ALL worth it but it gets expensive. There are no organizations around here at all. The shelter here in Mason county is even a high kill shelter. I've reached out on FB and G+ to try and find someone to help foster these strays (one of which has been out there for as far as we know, 5 years) It breaks my heart and I cannot believe we are now contributing to the problem letting our Lola get pregnant!!:doh3: I tried keeping them from "doing it" but I should have separated them!!!! I just felt so bad locking either one up. Roo we got neutered in time but Teddy, we didn't. Once because of finances (car broke down) then a bad URI that took 3 vet visits and 3 refills of antibiotics and steroids to get rid of, happened during that time. I was asleep on the couch and I heard that tell tell scream, I jumped up and they split in separate directions. I knew! We'll manage somehow. We always do, but if we could even get help with the vet bills it would be awesome!! Thank you again!!

I'm not sure what you meant by "I didn't read everything" My post? Thank you for letting us know where it's located. The Walmart app says it's in the baby section, aisle E3 but he couldn't find it. I imagine it's only because he was in such a hurry to get home that he overlooked it in the first place :wife:

We have a new problem this morning. The kittens bellies are very red with little red bumps. Some worse than others, one is blood red all over it's tummy and down it's legs. Could it be the towel or the laundry soap? I used hydrocortisone spray specifically made for cats with irritated skin from rashes, flea bites etc. It didn't say not to use on kittens. It just says not for use on pregnant females. I'm thinking I should take the towel out and put down my good soft as a cloud blanket. Have you heard of this though? I'm just wondering if it may say something to someone like "Sounds like _____ to me"

Also, while I'm here, our runt still doesn't seem to be growing. Not losing but weight has stayed at 4 oz for the last 2 days when some are up to 6.5 oz now. I already know of the "what could bes" please, all I need is comfort and support and good vibes :vibes: for her!! My question. Can I give a pea sized amount of the High Calorie Nutritional Gel For Kittens once a day at this point? She's still VERY strong and when she doesn't like something I can barely keep hold of her. She's still nursing and eating (for Jess, she's the only one who just won't eat for me!!) She is still so tiny though, she has no skin on the back of her neck to grab to force feed her (what I've resorted to doing when Jess is at work) I'd very much appreciate anyone's advice for our little fighter! Thank you all once again :angel3:

First, there is a kitten-specific Nutri-Cal, however, I don't think I would use this in such a small kitten who's digestive tract isn't ready for solids.

Are you supplementing this kitten more than the others? How often are you feeding the runt and how much?

As for the rash...
It sounds like an allergic reaction, definitely. I advice against using any detergent with a scent. Stick with the fragrence-free/dye free ones (Tide and ALL) or use Dreft for babies.

I would also refrain from using the hydrocortisone until you speak directly to your vet. Oftentimes, something that is not safe for pregnant cats is not safe for neonates/newborns.

Dont worry about the size of the kittens because she can release horomones that actually resize the kittens

She should actually worry about the sizes. Smaller kittens are pushed off nipples by the larger ones and they don't get enough to eat. Moms can't compensate.

I am not sure where you received this information from, however, young kittens should be gaining at minimum 8 grams daily, preferably 10. If a young kitten is not gaining weight and maintaining for more than one day, there is very often a problem. Supplementing (or in this case, possibly supplementing more) is the first step. If weight gain is still not achieved after 24 hours, a vet visit is often needed.

OK, I am getting ready to change out their bedding and put in my super soft blanket. About the Nutri-Cal. That's the exact one we use. We have to give it to Teddy (Daddy) everyday and have for months now. (Another threadä, another day) I was thinking that about her tummy not being ready for it also but I'm desperate!! We only supplement her every 3-4 hours round the clock because she just absolutely will NOT take even a drop any more often. She nurses on mama all the time though. Lola somehow knows that she is getting knocked off the teet by the bigger ones because she stays in that box until everyone had eaten and fallen asleep!! It's amazing to see such love and such instinct even for a very, very young first time mom! Seems like almost everytime we go to feed them, she is nursing (our tiny fighter) Jess gets very upset when I tell him that I'm worried. He will say in a sturn voice "Honey, that kitten is fine!!" or "If God didn't want her to make it, he would have never allowed me to bring it back with mouth to mouth when it was born!!" She was the last born and not breathing. Jess had to do CPR. It's been 5 days now and she's still here, still strong and LOUD! Maybe she's just going to be tiny? I pray :angel3:

Ok. I have used a combination of Goat's Milk used to reconstitute KMR powder to help put weight on a critically ill kitten. It was the only think that worker to get weight on her. She had to be tube fed due to a severe diagphramatic hernia and the quantity of the mixture I was feeding her was the same as the KMR alone. (She could only tolerate a small amount of fluid in her system at a time.)

I would use the mixture before I tried Nutri-Cal.

Where can I get goats milk? We live in a rural part of WV right on the border of Southern Ohio but there is no Health Foods or even a Kroger for at least 60 miles. Does Walmart carry it and where would it be found? In food? We do however have Tractor Supply and Southern States where we find things like self vaccination kits, things like that. Oh, we do have a Petland (Even though I DO NOT like supporting them, it's sometimes necessary!) We go out of town every 2 weeks to my Dr and we hit PetCo but that's not until next Friday. Thanks again for all your help!! [emoji]128158[/emoji]

The Goat's Milk would be found at the grocery store, fresh (if anyone in your area has a goat farm), or at a Whole Foods/Trader Joe's/EarthFare/Sprouts, etc... Or even at a specialty/holistic pet food store. You might can find some concentrated canned goat's milk in the baking isle, but check the refrigerated section first. You want as fresh as possible.

When I say reconstitute, I do mean using powdered KMR and reconstituting it with part goat's milk and part water. I believe I did equal parts KMR, Goat's Milk and water.

I have not done this with the canned formula as I am not sure how this would affect the overall caloric value.

Sweetie, this is false! Anytime you have a runt or failing to thrive kitten it's of great concern!! With a litter as large as mine, supplementing for the queen is an absolute MUST if the kitten is to not just thrive but survive!! Sometimes supplementing isn't enough and other measures need to be taken like using a high fat milk (Never cows milk) such as goats milk, what the Advisors recommended to me. Then, sometimes tube feeding may be in order as a last attempt to save the kittens life. Please never just assume nature will take care of it. In nature, the weaker kittens simply don't make it and sadly, sometimes the mother will stop caring for the weaker ones to ensure the survival of the strongest and fittest. I'm certain you've heard "Survival of the fittest" This is where this saying stems from.
