I feed my cat Acana. As you know, they are coming out with the new USA made cat food from the Kentucky plant. I picked up the Meadowland today. This is replacing Wild Prairie made in Canada. You can not buy the Canadian made Acana when inventory runs out here in the states. There is definitely a difference between the two. The new smells grassy, is smaller, and not as dense....almost like infused with air. My cat will not touch it.

Ugh. This is a bummer. I heard they changed the Acana and downgraded the quality. I'm a little worried because I feed Orijen as a snack, but if they mess Orijen the way they messed with Acana it wont be good.

We have tried everything we could just to get her to taste it. We even opened her mouth and popped a piece in...she spit it out. She absolutely hates it. I feed Orijen too and am dreading the change that will happen. I feed GO wet food too, but know she will miss her crunchies. They really messed up this food.

I totally forgot about these pending changes. I was going to eliminate Ziwipeak air dried and go back to all Orijen as the snack food because ZP is getting really expensive, but now I'm going to reconsider that. Orijen has always been a consistently good brand, I'm going to be hugely disappointed if they mess with the ingredients.

Still trying to get her to eat the new Acana. If I mix it with the old she will walk completely away. I am baffled and frustrated! I did figure out what it smells like to me. I grew up on a farm. It smells like sweet alphalfa we used to feed our cows.

Update:
Finally got her to eat two pieces of Meadowland. I was really sneaky hiding it and hand feeding. I thought great and was relieved. But 15 minutes later, she threw up! I wonder what is in the new recipe that caused this? There are different fillers, but I don't think I will even try to figure it out. I just will have to drop this Acana Meadowland. I had an interesting conversation with an online retailer that stated that they will probably still continue to carry the Canadian Acana cat food because they have trucks that actually go get it from Canada and bring it back to the USA for them. Champion Pet Foods state they will not ship Canadian made to the USA and we have to buy the Kentucky made. So, who knows?

I will pick up the Wild Atlantic this week and see how that goes. Will update here with that.

We have tried the Wild Atlantic and.......she likes it! Was hesitant at first, but tasted and liked. Only food left to try is now is the USA made Grasslands. My pet specialty store says won't get that one in for a while due to huge inventory of Canadian made still in store.

I would just be careful Not to feed it exclusively as you really don't want to feed s fish based diet.

Well, I tried the new USA Acana Grasslands. I gave her 3 pieces and she ate them, but then immediately offered more and would not eat. I mixed one new piece in with a tablespoon and she would not even pick out and eat the old Canadian made Grasslands. For my cat, the new Acana Kentucky foods are a no go. She will eat the Wild Atlantic, but not enthusiastic about it and I will not feed fish on a daily basis. I wish those of you making the switch better luck.
