Hi all,

My adopted stray has been throwing up pretty sporadically, and it's almost always accompanied by a hairball. He threw up all over my bed today when I was at work, and once beside me last weekend. The time before that was maybe a month ago, but he does the hacking cough at least once a week. Just wanted to have some idea of what's "normal" (subjective, I know every cat differs) but is there some baseline for when I should be concerned? He still plays, eats, uses litter box, etc...I've tried brushing him but he hates me (he grooms a LOT)... he also won't touch wet food no matter what kind I use or what tactic I try. Just noticing the throw ups and wondering... Thoughts or help, please?

In theory a kitty would never have a hairball but that isn't reality.  Do you give your kitty anything to help with hairballs?  A lot of people use this https://www.chewy.com/vets-best-hairball-relief-digestive/dp/45141    This product does not contain a petroleum product which many hairball pastes contain.

Do you free feed?  Meals rather than free feeding helps with hairballs.  Hair stays in the stomach until food has gone on through then the hair goes through rather than staying in the stomach and forming the hairballs that cause the digestive issues.
