Hi everyone :wavey:

What household chore do you hate the most ?

I don't particularly like any of them very much :lol3:

But if I have to choose I would say taking out the trash. I think its the fear of the bags ripping open & then having to clear it up - that's happened a few times

Not a fan of any of them either :p

The one which I hate most though is emptying the dishwasher.  I actually don't mind loading it.  It's just more difficult for me to put things away (high up, too far, etc.) than to just stand there and put them in one place.

I'd rather clean a toilet than empty the dishwasher LOL

I think vacuuming.  There's always so much furniture to move around, rugs to shake out, cat paraphernalia to pick up...

Cleaning the bathtub and shower. It's really hard on my back.

Scooping the litter boxes. If ever there was a thankless task, I think it's scooping the litter boxes. We have six of them and til I'm done scooping and sweeping up around all of them, I bet it takes a good 45 minutes and I do it twice a day. Rick did it a couple times this week and he even said, "What a way to start your morning!"

(I really hate walking into the bathroom first thing in the morning, all bleary-eyed and stumbling around and walking into a pile of cat litter on the bathroom floor. No matter how large the litter box is and how large the anti-tracking mat is, Tabby manages to have huge piles of litter on the bathroom floor. And she does a good job in the computer room, too.)

Washing the floors. It feels so pointless. Ten seconds later there are kitty prints and food and whatever all over it again.

...with the cats...
well, i had to think about this one.

i've gotten to the point where almost all cleaning chores don't really bother me. years ago i started thinking of cleaning chores as 'things to do, not to think about'. i like to get them done and get them off my mind, sooner rather than later.

that said, i'd have to say that scrubbing the tiles in the shower is the household chore that i hate the most. so much so that i have plans to have my bathroom remodeled, including a new walk-in shower that has no tiles. i'd even pay extra to have a one piece slab of tile (or other material) put in on each wall area of the shower, with the only grouting around the outer edges of them. it's not scrubbing the tiles so much as having to be careful with the grouting between them that bothers/annoys me. i don't mind scrubbing the tub at all.

Laundry. I hate it. The folding and putting away. Also its the chore that I have to sit still on everything else I am up and moving around.

I just thought of one I hate worse than laundry. Picking up the kids toys. I am trying to teach them they need to do it. I even threaten to throw them away. No matter how many I pick up there is still five I forgot, and Hot wheels hurt when you step on them about as bad as lego's.

Cleaning the bathrooms. It's hard on my back, too. The shower and tub are very difficult to clean because of the glass doors that block half the enclosure.

I used to have a real aversion to emptying the dishwasher and would "scold" the cat for not doing "his only household chore". Working at the animal shelter has cured me of that, since it's not unusual to run 3-4 loads during early shifts.

After reading all the thoughts about this question, I have come to the conclusion that I would love to be able to afford a cleaning person....a maid....

Wouldn't that be great... I really dislike housework. Dishes and laundry I can deal with, no problem. The rest of the stuff could so easily be done by someone else..

Problem is: I cannot afford a cleaning person. There are many people in my building that have someone come in weekly or bi-weekly to clean the place throughly. I am very envious of them. The cheapest I hear for a quote is $80 each visit. That is too much for me to spend...

Washing windows really bothers (hurts) my shoulders. You would think I have so many. I only have 2 double windows and a sliding glass door. I live near the ocean and the airport, so they get grimy so fast. I have grown accustomed to looking out of yucky windows....sigh...

I hate washing the bathroom floor. It's an odd shaped room and on the small side. I can't clean it thoroughly with my mop so unfortunately it's a hand wash, on my knees kind of job. Meh.

I also am not fond of dusting my blinds. Tried all kinds of different dusters and vacuum attachments and they are all some what inefficient. Usually I just take them down and bleach the in the bath tub.

For me it is dusting and vacuuming the furniture.  I don't mind vacuuming the floor, even moving the furniture to do a really thorough job but I hate vacuuming the furniture.

I used to think I would like to be able to hire someone to clean but I have changed my mind.  I would be one that straightened and cleaned before they came to clean.  I would also have to have them come in when I am not home because I would not be comfortable with someone cleaning up my mess while I am there.  I wouldn't be comfortable with someone cleaning while I am not there, even with bonding.  It isn't so much stealing as snooping, some people are just like that, or being mean to the kitties just because they don't like cats.

-Bathrooms
-Lawn Mowing
-Taking dishes out of the dishwasher

-Dusting. In context it really isn't so bad, is just that it has to be done so darn frequently...including all the little nooks and crannies..otherwise I would be consumed and overwhelmed by it!

Ironing clothes, definitely.
Next to that comes emptying the dishwasher.

Laundry, because it takes SO long to get it all done, & then having to do all the folding & putting away.

I don't mind other stuff as much, obviously, since I started my own business cleaning homes 3 years ago now. (wow, it's already been 3 years!)  So, at home, I usually stay on top of things doing what needs to be done, as I go. This way, I haven't had to do a "full cleaning" in a while. (& it's just me here, so that helps!)  I usually do a quick dust through, & do the floors once a week. I try to do it on a Thursday, so I am done for the weekend after work Friday. Then I can come home & relax!

Tips that have helped me do this is, I keep some wipes in the bathroom closet, as well as toilet cleaner & sponges, so it's all there, & using the wipes often, keep it clean. I have also used an eraser sponge between cleanings in the shower/ tub. I just give a quick once over at the end of my shower, & done!

I also swiffer mop between steam mopping the kitchen & bathroom.
