Sick Kitty...Has anyone else had these same problems?

My cat randomly started throwing up bile, then stopped eating, then started hiding under the bed, all over the course of about 72 hours. She has spent the last 48 hours at the vet who says it is some kind of infection, but he isn't sure what the root cause is. She is still drinking and urinating, just not eating or pooping.

Has anyone else had the same problems? Could this be a result of a gastro-intestinal problem?

Thanks for any and all suggestions

I'm no expert, but maybe there could be some sort of blockage that only water can get by, so there is a backlog of food and your cat has lost their appetite. Don't take my word for true though. I don't know what sorts of infections it could be.

Maybe! I thought it was weird she wasn't eating but was still drinking, so that could be. I'm just so worried about her :/

My best wishes for you and your kitty! An expert should find this thread soon enough and give you good advice. Maybe have a look through the different articles on the site concerning these symptoms?

Very weird.  Could she have gotten into something or could she have a blockage?

So sorry to hear about your kitty:) If your kitty was throwing up bile the stomach was empty. When my cat threw up bile this is what my vet told me. The cat had not eaten and the bile is the only thing that can be vomited. My cat had a nasty kidney infection - not to say this is your situation - he stayed at the hospital for some serious antibiotics and fluids. After 4 days at the hospital he was well on the road to recovery-and sits with me 2 + years later.

Did the doctor tell you what kind of infection? Where they thought the infections was/is e.g. bladder? Maybe you can ask the vet about the blood work and urinalysis and find out where they think the illness is coming from?

It really could be any number of things, I know that isn't an answer but it is true.  My kitty would do this with IBD flares, no infection just inflammation from an auto immune reaction.  Hopefully your vet will get things figured out sooner rather than later.
