That's why I still have so many slugs in the yard, despite liberally sprinkling Sluggo snail bait (safe for pets, wildlife, and the universe):

It never was around very long - the snails must have eaten all of it!

Only it wasn't the snails. Once I caught the Rogue in the act, I was reassured by reading the "safe for pets" line on the label. But a couple weeks later, he was bleeding from his stomach... now he is recovering from anemia and peptic ulcer.

Just saying... be careful who eats your snail bait.

How to safely make and  use a slug trap -

Get a 2 liter plastic soda bottle

Cut top off about where it begins to taper

Invert top into bottom (will look like a funnel) and staple together

Add some regular snail bait

Lay jar on side under a bush or other shaded place, slightly buried in ground so it won't roll around

Slugs will climb in to get at bait but cannot figure out how to exit

When it becomes obnoxious with yucky slimy slugs, wrap the slug trap in newspaper and throw away in garbage

Slug bait safely away from cats, birds, children
