I'm not sure what to put on it.  Any recommendations?  I washed it with warm water and mild soap.  Then he scratched it with is nails.  not good.  so I put a collar on him and he seriously pouted and moped about the house so I took it off. I hate seeing my baby mope.  he was sooo irritated he started a fight with his brother, Freeway. :(

Put the collar back on and ignore his moping, it's for his own good. Then get him to the vet for some antibiotics.

Hi

Thanks for your post.

I will put the collar back on, however my assessment is that a vet is NOT necessary.  Its not that serious.  An over the counter topical should do it.

That's what I need a recommendation for.

thanks again.

If it's an open wound, you should get him to the vet to make sure it's not infected as it could abscess and that's much more painful.  He might need an antibiotic to prevent infection, especially if he was scratching it with his claws.

Its not an open wound. Its a scrape and I've been looking at it multiple times a day.  Its not infected.

I did some research and found:

indications for Triple Antibiotic Ointment

Triple Antibiotic Ointment is a combination of three antibiotics for cats and dogs: Bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B. It is used as a first aid for wounds in cats and dogs. A popular dog and cat medication, it is used to treat bacterial infections of minor cuts, burns or scrapes on the skin of the animal.

FOR MINOR SCRAPES.  THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT . . . MINOR
