1st time posting and I hope this goes right. At the end of my apt complex there is a new litter of kittens
I've counted 4 already. The complex is very feral populated., yet these babies look about 6-8 weeks and stand good chance to be adopted out. We have been involved in a program where we trap the feral cats and get them fixed, yet not too many involved, just getting aboard I went to these kittens put down food in the brush and sat on the sidewalk. Slowly they came around and we're comfortable eating, 2 hung out and stayed keeping their distance. I brought a toy with a bell and kept their attention. One I would like to try with my cat indoors only, and the others I'm sure would go quickly . How do I catch them? How long till they become feral beyond catching and into trapping? I am new and want to help

Sorry @Maryann jerse  you haven't had any replies yet - hope you're still looking at this!

The easiest way to do this - if you can't lure them to you and pick them up - is to trap them, and at 6-8 weeks (hopefully closer to 8 weeks, as I'd hate to think no mom if just 6 weeks!). Hopefully your group can help you with the trapping of the kittens - you really need to stay with the trap if you're trapping kittens, as they can be injured during the trapping process with alot of traps (a drop trap - or a carrier with a string tied to the door - is safest but can take practice to pull off - and again - you have to be there to get them). IF you've trapped already you probably know that stinky food will likely peak their interest and pull them in (I use canned mackerel - it's nasty - but almost always draws in even the most timid kitties!). If you can get them at this age-  chances are EXTREMELY good that you can socialize and find homes! But with socializing - the earlier the better - kittens this small can generally socialize very quickly (I've had one go from feral to loving in less than a week - but not all are that fast).

Good luck! HOpe you can get them while they're this young - - that's perfect if you can! You don't want to wait - - a large portion of feral kittens don't survive (too many predators, cars, disease, angry toms, etc). Plus the females can get pregnant as early as 4 months - and you're already at 2 months - so the sooner the better on all counts!

It sounds like you're doing so much -  - - - good luck and keep coming here for support and questions!
