I have a pregnant kitty. I don't know how far along she is but she is large and her nipples are prominent and I can feel and see her kittens moving in her belly. This morning a pile of my clothes on a chair were wet. It didn't smell like pee...I don't know if cats "waters" break as in humans...later on in the day around 5pm she led me to her birthing box by meowing at me to follow her. She went straight in and circled around while meowing in distress. Then I saw she was leaking bloody liquid. Not pure blood and not for very long. She licked herself on and off for a few hours and slept. No kittens....now she has left her box and seems rather active. It is now 12:03 and I am wondering if her kittens will come tonight or if this was a false alarm. She is acting normally, no heavy breathing, panting or meowing.

Discharges of some sort are common, and some of them will be red colored.  As long as itsnt living blood that is normal.

She could have precontracions - common a couple of days before delivery.  Humans may have them too - it has even a fancy name after some doctor whom describet them. Braxton hicks?

Or it may be beginning of stage one.

Splendid she is trusting you.   :)

Good luck!

Yeah I was shocked she wanted me there! I'm currently laying on the floor playing the waiting game. I got so excited then I was so worried when I learned bleeding was not at all commonplace.

Some cats seem to give several false starts in the eyes of their humans before the real show begins. Especially with their first litter. Hang in there.

Some discharge of a pinkish nature is normal. It sounds like your cat is doing okay, and preparing for labor and birthing. Keep an eye on her, and continue your questions on this thread. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Aww! That's wonderful! They look like they are nursing well.

Atticus so far is a really great mother. Except when I attempt to leave her she jumps out of the bed and meows after me haha. I was downstairs watching a movie last night then I came up and she was curled up with the dad. I kicked him out and she started pacing. I believe she was waiting for me to return to get the show on the road.
