That IS good. Hopefully she's on the mend. Maybe give her a teaspoon of plain wet food every couple of hours. If she can keep it down, that's a positive sign. If she's back nursing, she especially needs fuel.

Well, she's not running a fever, and it doesn't sound like mastitis.  Maybe just an upset tummy from exhaustion?  I think it might be wise to try her on a little bit of the KMR, perhaps mixed with some canned food.  It should help to replenish what she's losing from the nursing.

Naomi's had long enough for the instant maternal hormones to start wearing off, and I can certainly understand how eight screaming kittens, all demanding to be fed MeNow!, would get on her nerves.

You know what they say about why babies are cute?  It's a survival trait for the human species.  If babies weren't cute, very few of them would survive to adulthood.  There's a similar reason why a litter of eight kittens is unusual.  It's extremely hard on the mother, which means she's less likely to be able to raise them to adulthood.  We all know that Naomi and Wynonna are SuperCats, but Naomi and her kittens wouldn't have made it this far without major intervention from Wynonna.  It's to be expected that she's feeling overwhelmed.  I'm glad you're helping to wean the four eldest; that's taking a bit of the weight off of both the queens, and may be why Naomi has begun doing better.

Ally (my daughter) & I went downstairs and syringe fed the oldest 4, and gave them a bit of cat food. 4 of the youngest were yelling for food, so Naomi started feeding them and grooming Wynonna. It was adorable.
She nursed them, and groomed them, for about 20 minutes. Then she went to the wayer bowl for about 15 minutes, honestly, and drank.

Here is the video. Look at how skinny Noami is. Im going to get baby food tomorrow to try and help her tomorrow.

I will have her at the Vet on Monday if shes not any better. I may cook her some rice & turkey tomorrow as well.

Im keeping her off food for tonight. There is kibble out, but no wet food for her tonight. Everything i read says to withold food for 24 hours, but Im only doing overnight as shes a lactating Mom of a large litter.

i LOVE the shelter I'm working with. the President messaged me this morning to  just call  another in town vet-  I did, and got all kinds of meds for Naomi until  she  can get to the vet tomorrow.

i weighted her. She's only 5.2 pounds, you guys.  She so dang skinny.

Anyway, I'm going to  watch some youtube videos  about how to give Sub -q fluids, learn how to give her a shot, and just go for it. I got the fluids, an anti-nausea shot, and amoxicillin.  I tried to give her chicken baby food, and she  wasn't interested.

I can do this, right?  I'll be the first to admit, i'm scared, but I'll do anything to help her.  My poor girl.

YES! You've got this! I assume they put in a port for the sub-q's. Shots go in the scruff, unless they told you otherwise. Poor Naomi. Did they venture a guess as to what's wrong? She did look scrawny in the last photo you posted. She's surely worn out! Prayers [emoji]128591[/emoji]

Some advice...
Give fluids first, then the Cerenia. The Cerenia burns and it's a gamble if the cat will react or not (most do.). So, good idea if one person can hold and the other give the injection.

Thanks for that. We will do it that way.  She may not even be dehydrated much, she so skinny- he "tent" goes down,Not too quickly,  but not as fast as the cat at the Vet that they showed me.

I'm watching another youtube video, then I'm going to just go do it. the faster I do, the faster she feels better

So, I'm not a vet tech.  I did get some fluids in her- then 1/2 of the  anti-nausea meds.  She isn't vomiting, anyway. so  rather than freak her out more, I left it at that.   I can always give the rest to her later, right?   I gave her the antibiotic, and some glucose water.

I won't lie, I'm really worried about her, but knowing I have the antibiotics for her helps, a lot.. and I'll have her at the vet first thing tomorrow.

My poor girl. :(

The fluids and anti-nausea medicine should help. Can she eat today?

Poor little thing, getting the fluids in her was very important, I hope she starts feeling better.

Update us after the vet trip tomorrow.  I am hoping against hope that this is mostly stress from such a large litter.  Even with two moms, it's a lot.

Guess who ate about 1/2 a jar of baby chicken, and PEED!  oh boy, she PEED, people!  Its the only time one would celebrate cat pee, i think!  ;)   Hopefully, she'll eat a little more a bit later after the 2nd dose of antibiotics.
