I agree but at the same time, I had just experienced this much spotting with Lola and as you all told me it would stop in a few days it has. Her mother only had 3 and she bled even worse and the vet wasn't in the least bit concerned. So it may just be her recovery and stop soon! Fingers crossed :vibes:

Get her checked. If your regular vet won't see her, find a different one. There's no telling what she still has inside. Wy can manage the kittens for a few hours.

I thought the kitten count was higher than 9 in the x-ray. An x-ray/ultrasound would be prudent. Even if she hadn't delivered a stillborn or one that died soon after birth or the blood. And cheaper in the long run. If she gets sick it will happen fast and even if she survives an infection you will be left with 8 kittens to tend.

If this was right after the initial birth I'd say normal with close monitoring. However, given what has happened I say better safe than sorry. Vet.

Oh yeah.. I forgot about that. I think I read where she said they gave a count of 13? I think she should be seen also now that you reminded me of that! It would be different if they gave a count so far off from only manipulating her abdomen but this was an x-ray.

I jsut got back from the vet.  I went back downstairs and there were trails of blood drops-  on the floor as well:

I was on hold for 10 minutes, when they picked up, I told then I was coming in.

I had to bring the babies, too, I only brought 6 as 2 were with Wy.

The vet (a new one) said she was perfectly fine- that the bleeding was normal.  She had a lot of kittens and it was a lot to recover from. She palutated her stomach a LOT, and Naomi allowed her to.   She was still bleeding, but she wasn't concerned about the blood very much.  She told me to watch for  lack of eating, drinking or foul smelling or off color discharge.

I told her that if she was CERTAIN there was nothing left in her  uterus, then I'd take her word for it. But I looked her right in the eye and  told her I wanted to know she was certain it was okay.  She said she thought it was.

I have left her alone for a while in the cattery because she's stressed out.  I fed her again and want her to just relax for a bit,

The vet kinda made me feel like an alarmist catMomma, and I resent that. I told her that  I have fostered many Queens and  that this is the ONLY one that has worried me.   I'm not a nervous nelly, ladies, I'm really not, but  this was unusual and I'm very invested in my Naomi girl .  I'll be keeping a close eye on her.

Thank you all for being there for us.

You done the absolute correct thing considering the size of this litter.  The same vet would chastise you if you waited until her rear end smelled like rotting meat.

I used to hold my breath before entering a stall with a sick horse. That first deep breath would either be warm poo and horse or the unmistakable stench of infection setting in.

Again thank you for the love and care you have offered two cats who so needed help.

Wendy, you did the right thing. That Vet was out of line for treating you that way!

Makes me so mad!!

I am surprised she did not do an x-ray. I think ultrasound would be too invasive...shaving Naomi's belly.

Just keep a watch on her, if it seems to be increasing, then I would be right at the Vet's office demanding an x-ray!

You are doing awesome!!

Hopefully the vet knows what she is talking about but I would still keep a very close eye on her (as I'm sure you will because you are an excellent Foster mom).

Good grief! I can't stand these vets who act like know-it-alls, but know nothing. Honestly, most vets make their bread and butter from check-ups, vaccines, and spays/neuters. They know norhing about pregnant cats and kittens. Arrggh! They know more about dogs than cats, unless they specialize.

With that rant being said, my stray bled for a few days, with it eventually growing pinker. I'm guessing because of your cat having so many, that once the last one was unleashed, her uterus can now clean itself out and heal. I hope so anyway. It should become less each day. If it does not, or becomes more, it's a hemorrhage, and she needs immediate vet care. Keep us posted.

PS: Your cat is probably quiet because she's stressed and has had enough for one day. Hope so, anyway.

Also, are there signs of a cat having a fever? I did have my husband pick me up a thermometer on his way home. What is normal?

Did you see my above two posts? She may need antibiotics, but if there's anything wrong they will surely want to perform an emergency spay to deal with it. Of course ....

Yeah. Shes tired, but with 8 babies, who wouldnt be? Plus, when I walked in she was in the smaller box nursing 3 of wys kittens and 4 of hers, the rest surrounding her and sleeping. I cant figure out a way to seperaye them, they want to be together. Right now, Wy has them all, save 1.
The thing is, my daughter will be shooting a music video in Brooklyn tomorrow and I have to go with her. My husband will be home, and he will be able to check on her, but I'm anxious being away from her.

The main thing is are they all getting enough milk and growing each day? You are weighing them so you should know.

Wy appears to be filling in, which is fantastic. Without her, your job would be so much harder!

Go with your daughter tomorrow, and check in with your husband. What else can you do, save putting your life on hold?

Are they all in the pool together? That would be best at this point, since Wy feeds most of them anyway. Stop with the separate boxes.

The kittens should have gotten their first milk. As long as they nurse and gain weight and are getting mommy loves I agree about one huge kitty pool. The feral colony here shared their babies until you couldn't figure out who's was who's.

The don't like the pool, but the do like the 2 boxes together. They can go back and forth.
