I've got my male kitty cat. He's been fixed now thankfully and has stopped keeping the whole house up thankfully. Now we're on to a whole new sleep issue. My husband gets up about 4 am. I know cats are creatures of habit. Well now he wants the whole house up at 4 am. He has food and water, he's been played with before bed. My husband isn't playing with him at 4 am and neither am I! How can I teach him it's not time yet?!

As hard as it sounds, just ignore him and he'll figure it out. If you get up or react, he'll realize his attempt to wake you has worked and it will get worse. My husband is up at 5am for work (I don't have to be up until 7:30) and for about 2 weeks, the cats all felt that not only should he be feeding them, but we should all be up. After the two weeks, they realized it wasn't going to happen and now don't even get out of bed when he gets up.

As long as your cat doesn't get the reaction he wants from you, he will eventually stop.

On weekends, one of us usually rolls over and tells them "It's too early." It took us a few months of doing that on Saturday and SUnday, but now they know to leave us alone fr at least another hour if they hear that - the biggest trick is honestly going to be repeating the behaviour that you want enough so that it becomes habit.

Just be patient and try very hard to ignore it and go back to sleep. Once he gets the hang of the routine he will let you sleep. I know its hard to ignore and sleep through, but if he sees you get up and he has gotten attention from you he will just keep waking you up at that time.

I have a kitty alarm clock as well and she knows when I usually get up and if I don't get up she will make sure I do LOL Don't really ever need to set an alarm anymore so I have her to thank for that

I'll try and see if I can. If not looks like I'll be a very early riser lol

My kitten does the exact same thing to me, but she is a late riser like me, so she wants me up at 8:30 on the dot every morning hahaha

Ruby used to wake me between 5 and 6 every morning.  My clock radio comes on at 6.  I would try ignoring her, but she was persistent. Finally after weeks of this and sleep deprivation starting to affect me, I started getting up and putting her out of the bedroom and closing the door.  I'd tell her she "had to wait for the radio".   After a few months (yes months!) she got the hint and one morning didn't come in until she heard the radio.  Since then 99.999% of the time she doesn't bother me till she hears the radio.   So they can be trained.  It will take time though.  Good luck.

Just ignore him. He'll figure it out when no one responds to his 4 a.m. excitement.

I do not have a kitty alarm clock...I have a 3:00 am breakfast alert. I just make some canned food with water and fiber, before nighttime sleeping and dump it in his food bowl in the early God awful hours and then collapse before I climb back into bed. He is happy and get back to sleep.
I know I am spoiling him, but isn't that my purpose in life?
