Good morning.

Happy Saturday. Yay, it's April, it's very nearly spring.

Today's question is what does your cat do that drives you crazy?

My cats are allowed to do pretty much whatever they please, but one thing I try to stop them from doing is climbing on my computer table or walking across the keyboard. They can claw the couch up all they want. I try not to complain when they bring in bugs and dead mice for me to step on when I wake up. I'll even turn a blind eye to they occasional bit of indoor spraying from the boys when they're having a power struggle but don't walk on my computer!

How about you, anything they do that sends you round the bend?

Mogli is allowed to do pretty much anything he wants, but his stealing food drives me nuts. He has IBD and food intolerances, so grabbing and gulping down something as simple as bread can make him extremely ill.

Good morning, Norachan. Yes, spring is almost here. However, after a couple weeks of truly gorgeous temperatures, we are to get a good dusting to snow both Sunday morning and then again into Monday morning. About an inch or so each morning. And we are to be quite chilly this coming week.

You know, I think I could live with everything else the cats do, if I could just get Mollipop and Muffin to (at least) try to get along. I don't care how much they mutter to each other, but this "Mom, she's looking at me!" and "Mom, make her stop staring!" and "Mom, make her stop watching me when I pee!" stuff is making me spastic. Honestly, I might as well have kids! And don't even try to tell me that's not what they're saying because I know better.

I wish my tribe could learn a little patience. Whether they want something to eat or to go outside, the running in front of me, trying to trip me and get my attention, has got to stop! Casper even darted in front of me on my way down the stairs, THAT could have been a disaster! It doesn't stop with that either, the meowing and pawing at my arm or leg, the walking across my chest or face if I'm laying down, all designed to make their demands known now! After years you would think they would know that all their demands will be attended to, but they want it done immediately. Other then that they are angels!

I pretty much let my kitties do what they want as well.  Patches does want to be at my feet when I am working.  I work from home and have the nest of cables for the internet and the equipment that I work on.  Patches is long past the chewing stage thankfully but he is sometimes way too interested in all those interesting cables.

Both of mine are allowed pretty much everywhere and can do anything also (I see we're a pretty tolerant group here!) and pretty much there's no behaviors which make me crazy.

I sometimes find Cocoa up on the dining room table which is a no-no for us.  But it's SO rare it happens.  I can't think of anything with Casper; since he's older his days of mischief are a thing of the past.

There is one thing which is annoying but doesn't happen regularly. Both get obsessed with the basement door at times. They will throw themselves onto it, trying to get in or park themselves in front of for great lengths of time.  We don't allow them down there, but somehow, that door has been opened a few times when we're not there.  IDK if it's Tom not closing it properly (unlikely - and I never go down there so I'm innocent!) or, if one of them has figured out how to open it

Yep Spring is here but sure doesn't feel like it. Snow tonight?!

The most annoying thing is my girls bring in live kill and let it go.

Last night it was a mole..it had been crawling around and then I see old kitty Floey pawing at it on this green strip rug-the previous night they brought in a vole and the damn thing bit me when I was trying to get rid of it. so I am not a big fan of live prey. I keep telling the girls=KILL it for ____ sakes before you bring it in!

Last summer was a little bird that flew all over the kitchen and left feathers-so it was an evening spent wiping down counters with bleach/water and cats banished to the bedroom-while they clawed and meowing hollering to be let out!!

I don't like them scratching the furnature so I keep them wrapped with sheets/blankets.I have tons of scratching posts and area rugs they can scratch on-I buy them second hand and let them destroy them...but the damn live prey getting all over my house ticks me off. Its easier to bleach a hard surface than it is to do carpet. So I always worry about kooties from them darn things. If its dead I just flush it or bury it or toss it in the river out back-its usually a stream but with the spring rains its a good sizes brook. and figure it will feed something else down the other end of the river..but how do you kill a live mouse/mole?! I hate flushing live animals because it seems so cruel...so last night that mole that got in we tossed it on the deck and let Floey take care of it-once it was dead I flicked it in the woods and dumped vinegar/water to kill germs.

So they can wake me up. meow at me. Chase each other. Eat my food-as long as safe-and be a pain in the ass but don't bring in live prey!

I think the kittens being kittens drives me crazy :lol3: It's adorable at the same time though.

I wish I could make the youngin's understand that Sara does not want to play, so stop trying. But no. I can't make them understand. And they keep trying to play with her the same way they play with each other. And then I have to scold them, which makes Oscar in particular feel bad. He's such a sensitive kitty, and it makes me feel so bad to see him get that sad face when I have to scold him.

Lately my boys have taken up loads of obnoxious behavior and I suppose it's my fault. Scratch that. I know it's my fault. I've spoiled them rotten and let them have the run of the house and now that they're in a teenager-type stage, I'm losing patience.

Toothless's tumor greatly effects her mobility. She can't jump up or down what so ever. So she has limited options on avoiding the boys and their courting attempts. She's figured out underneath my daughter's bed is great hiding spot since the cats are rarely allowed in there.

So the boys sit in front of the door and cry. A lot. At first I thought it was cute, but there are certain times where it's just too much. Plus Toothless really just wants to be left alone so I can hear her hissing at them.

They started fighting with each other. Jake has stepped up and decided he could be the alpha cat. Andy disagrees. Andy has always dominated play time so now we play with Jake in a closed off room so he can get some much needed time. Now that we figured out how to make Jake feel more secure, Andy is jealous.

We're two weeks away from getting them neutered and I really, really wish I could bump up the appointment.

It's the sudden darting diagonally in front of me while I'm walking that drives me nuts.  Rico's the worst for that.

Xena is a furniture shredder. Wood or material. She refuses anything she is allowed to scratch up.

She sits behind me and puts her paws in my hair all the time. I don't know why, but it really bugs me.

OH, come on.  It's Hekitty!  I have an array of about 203 buttons, and she knows how to push about 207 of them.  HOWEVER...waking me up every hour on the hour two nights a week is way up there.

Morgana, as many people might know as I mentioned it a few times before, has the tendency to knock things down with her paw intentionally, either because it is purely fun to do or uses it to "summon" me. Even when I am looking at her, telling her no, she keeps daintily patting the item anyway till it falls. While most of the time it is fine/tolerable (Knocking over empty cans, kleenex boxes, money, shampoo bottles, books, wig heads etc etc) she has knocked over some things that break, like potted plants or a glass. One time a pretty little locally artisan made mushroom shaped salt shaker. Knocked over my jewellery box and everything inside became tangled. It's not common, but it happens!

Before Camelot had his gentlemanly bits removed, he was often very enamored with my housecoats
With all their quirks and crazyness and all!

...with the cats...
little deedee and punkin are just coming up on 8 months old now, so they're kittens.

deedee has stopped gnawing on my digital phone base antenna thingy, and also stopped scratching on my lovely executive/office chair (bought for $30 via craigslist about 6 years ago, and which i less than one year ago replaced the armrest pads). i mean, that's the only seating for humans in the living room and it's extremely comfortable.

punkin has gotten better with wanting to look into/check out things in the fridge every time i open it.

our jaspurr has no faults or naughty things he does, he's a purrfect boy!

the current big thing that bothers me, and i'm working with deedee on this, is that she has a very hard time waiting until i have the cats meal served up in the dishes. it ends up that about once every 3 or 4 days deedee cannot resist jumping up on the counter while i'm preparing the cats meal, and she'll start eating out of whose ever food dish is most easily accessible to her. there are some supplements that are for specific cats or in different amounts, mixed into their food. that doesn't bother me so much the first time i need to pick her up and set her down on the floor, or even the second time, but once we're into 3rd or 4th time i just pick deedee up and put her in the living room and close the screened door. but most days, most meals, deedee is learning that if she 'helps' mommy while i'm preparing the cats meals then she'll have her meal served first. 'helps' is defined as, milling around near my feet/legs meowing insistently and occasionally standing on her hind legs with her front paws gently patting my upper legs.

oh, and i 'get' that about not wanting the cats to walk on the computer keyboard. with my computer system i have the imac with a keyboard/mouse in one room, and the external monitor in another room with it's keyboard/mouse. you can only be using one keyboard/mouse at a time, so i can tell when the keyboard/mouse i'm using isn't 'in control'. this just means that either deedee or punkin are stepping on the other keyboard. i just say, 'mommy can tell when you're on the keyboard.......', and i think they've grown to understand and do step off the keyboard.

With Angua it is the licking my nose to wake me up in the morning when it isn't time for her to eat yet.

With Carrot it is peeing on things when he gets stressed. I know its just because he is feeling stressed out but it still makes me so mad. Yesterday, he peed on a pile of packing paper that I have on the floor since the cats love to run through it. Then he ran through the paper and got pee all over him. He then needed a bath.
