...with the cats...

letters from the board has been sent to my neighbors for past behavior issues, including them yelling at each other. Nothing happened really. They're just that type of people that won't change, unfortunately.

I checked the film from the outside at night. no one can see in, unless they bend down to look in the opening that I left for the cats. I wish I made the opening one notch lower, but that means the cats would have to crouch to look outside, lol. spoiled felines.
i'm glad that no one can see in at night. well, if someone were to bend down and look in, i'd snap a pic (with a cell phone, if necessary) and then place a report with the local police -- peeping tom, complete with a pic of the person doing it 'in action'. i mean, being a woman living alone i would think the police would take peering into your home at night by (sorry, but) creepy neighbors quite seriously.

I'm glad you can use the film. I know some associations have all kinds of rules. Sorry your neighbors are clods.

That looks nice, Draco. And honey, if you see somebody looking in your door at that level? You do need to call the police. I'm serious.

Now they have to make it obvious they're looking in, by bending down, then yes, I have reason to call the police and I will too. Without the frost, it's hard to have a reason.

Thank you everyone for your concerns, I appreciate it :)

Very nice fix!

Exhibit B: Now that the weather is getting nicer, my windows are open. They have to walk past my windows to get to their car. If my cats are at the windows, I hear them whistling and talking to my cats. It's like they've never seen cats before in their lives (And they have a cat.. which they got a few months ago. This is the other problem, and quite annoying when I am trying to relax.
I totally do this. :anon: :lol3: I walk by houses as part of my walking routes and I totally talk to every cat in a window, telling them how pretty they are, asking their name, etc. :anon: You should hear me talking to cats that are outside. :anon:

And if their humans are home, they probably think like me "What the heck is this nut job doing??" lol

I talk to cats that are outside, but never through someone's window!

I think this is a great idea!

And for security to keep someone from breaking in through that door=-you can get a broom handle and a hacksaw and cut it to the exact length of that part where the door slides in the tracks=put it there at night and it will keep the door from being slid open.

I've lived in places where I didn't like the locks that came on the doors and always rigged some thingy up to keep those out if they tried.

I love the sticky stuff-it looks like a bathroom shower door-very pretty. And if that doesn't send a message to those wankers then I don't know what else you can do other than A-talk to them face to face and ask them if it bothers them that people can look into their apartment? If they say yes or no then you can say well that's how I feel when I am stared at-be sure to always use :"I" feel or I am scared-never say you are looking in my windows-if you word it this way maybe they will get the hint?

or B-talk face to face with someone in charge of property but sadly they don't give a hoot either..we have people who speed through our neighborhood and called the association and all they did was send out mailings about "complaints" and of course someone called the cops and the cops said theres nothing they can do because its private property-so if someone was drunk driving-we have no protection unless they pull out on a public road which to me is utter bullcrap. They pretty much told us that they will take care of it but nothing happened..so I decided that unless theres loss to property for money damages then we can pretty much do whatever we want...they of course sent out "rules" we have to follow-and no one enforces them-some of the rules are stupid. I don't know what else you can do-talk to a cop and find out what your rights are? I would set up video cameras outside off your car and see if you can catch them walking by and "staring"?

Sadly there are lots of wankers out there who are completely clueless.

As far as talking to your cats..sorry guilty. I have done it walking through my neighborhood but I don't walk onto property just call across the lawn-depending on whose house it is to begin with. If they are a jerk I ignore them. If friendly I will "talk" to the cats

Have any comments been made that they can't see in anymore?
They're very pretty, the windows.
Jolly good job.

I don't know how this applies to your living situation. We installed security cameras to curb the behaviors of my relatives next door.

A web camera pointing out the windows would catch offending behavior. Always check to see what your requirements are. I live in a one party consent state.

There is a difference between someone looking in your window as they walk by and someone who actively engages in peeping.

I think most lawyers would advise you to take the action you have and cover the windows. A camera could catch them if they not go to extremes to peek into your home.

I haven't seen my nosey neighbors to find out- and I hope not!

kittens-mom- I am not sure if I am allowed to set up a camera.. it is a co-op and not really a private property for me to do what I want.. but that is a good idea though

I found once the ' neighbors' realized we were recording their obnoxious behaviors it' stopped. In fact it calmed the fighting down and relived tension. Much better than the 3AM calls for a squad car.

I have lived in apartments/ stacked living and in most cases there is a unspoken respect for each other's privacy. A cheap webcam out of sight but aimed at the gap on the lower part of the door would probably quickly answer any questions about their continued invasion of privacy.

I'm sort of surprised your complex doesn't have it's own outside security cameras.

I ran into father and son outside earlier, we pulled up at the same time. They said nothing about the door and I said nothing in turn.. the teenaged son was going on and on about his prom and how excited he was, he even showed me his tux. I was hoping they'd say something about the door so I have a good edge to say something. I hate confrontation, lol.

When I bought the place and before I moved in, we renovated the place (repainted, replaced baseboards and such).. the mother tried numerous times to invite herself in, despite the fact I was clearly in no shape for company.

All simple people and best not to deal with them if all possible.

I try not to socialize with them. I keep things short and sweet.. I don't encourage conversation with these people.

I don't blame you, I'm the same way.
