The Rogue is just 3 years old, normally inside-and-out and eating anything that he gets his teeth into.

Only two weeks ago the lethargy started, he stopped eating on his own and blood was seeping out of his mouth.

X-rays found a full stomach at the time (I am scared of hepatic lipidosis and handy with a feeding syringe), bloodwork consistent with moderate anemia.

Vet put him on clavamox
thankfully in liquid form, famotidine against stomach acid and sucralfate against whatever ulcer was bleeding, plus lixotinic to help with anemia.

Unsurprisingly, the vet wasn't knowledgeable about any other helpful supplements. I give him some additional B vitamins, DGL, marshmallow root, slippery elm and bone broth. He had some chicken liver the other day and will eat a bit of rodent intestines when offered.

Does anyone have experience with recovering from stomach ulcers and anemia? How long did it take your cat to recover? Any tips or tricks? Also egg yolks - they are good to syringe feed - how many egg yolks a week is ok?

He is still eating his litter, but last night for the first time showed mild interest in the feeding area and was a bit more mobile (even attempted to get out into the yard!), so I'm cautiously optimistic and after two weeks of terror, able to eat something again myself.

Was an ulcer confirmed?  They are unusual as a primary illness in kitties.  There are some other things that causes anemia.  The two most common is an internal parasite and auto-immune illness.

no, they didn't confirm anything besides anemia. But as he was bleeding out of his mouth, and nothing wrong to be seen inside his mouth, ulcer was assumed. Other than the anemia, nothing showed up in bloodwork or urine.

Update on the Rogue: he is feeling a bit better. This morning he actually went to get some food by himself! Not much, but still!

For the diagnosis, it's entirely possible he got into this mess by eating Sluggo Snail Bait. It says on the can "safe for pets and wildlife", but further research  leads to iron poisoning witch does match the Rogue's initial symptoms. Now I can't blame the Sluggo people for not knowing the Rogue would eat snail bait.
