I'm setting up a new kitchen for my club.  They have an old, donated stainless steel table. I may want to use it in the kitchen, but I don't know what it's called!  I suspect it was used in cafeteria setting. I've spent the afternoon online, trying to find one, but I can't I don't have a photo, so I have to describe it:

Imagine something like this, with one of these shelves on the top:

Six feet long, by approx. 3 feet deep, and double-sided (in other words, the top shelf is on both sides).  In the center of the table itself is a rectangular depression/well/basin. I am assuming the depression is used to ice down drinks, coffee creamer, etc., for a buffet in a hotel or restaurant dining room (?) Each side has one metal drawer.

Does anyone know what this table is called and/or used for? Thanks!

Ok, but stainless steel prep tables usually have just a flat top, with no well or depression in the center. (I am acquainted with these, and use them in their restaurant). This must be used for something else (?)

Probably a buffet like you think. They come in endless configurations. Unless there is an element it's meant for ice to keep food below spoilage.

It is a food prep table. We used these when I work in pizza places to put various toppings in.

It's so odd that I can't find a photo on the Internet. I'm wondering if these are not up to Department of Health rules anymore (this thing is at least 30 years old), as there's no compressor/cooling thing underneath like the more modern sub-shop type bain Marie (see the pic below, like Subway's version with the multiple stainless steel compartments in the top). This table only has the one compartment, so I guess you could only put one type of food in it.

We are actually getting rid of an old dinosaur of a bain Marie sandwich cooler. We need prep table space, and they never have used it ; it was also donated to use years ago. All it does is catch junk. They plan to scrap it for the stainless steel ; ours is smaller, ugly and looks like a 1950's travel trailer, and the lid is missing:
