Are this kitten's eyes normal?

Hello so i wanted to check if anyone knows some kind of congenital problem this kitten may have? i just dont think his eyes are normal please tell me if you think he has a condition

  
the current owner is telling me he doesnt have anything wrong with his eyes but i just dont think they are normal

The first (and only thing I noticed) is that he has irritation around his eyes (can see it fairly well in the second picture). My guess is that it's pink eye, but it could also herpes. Does he blink or squint a lot? Do his eyes crust up?

If you're friendly with the owner I'd preform a Google image search for something along the lines of eye infections in cats. It will show you similar images to this little guys red eyes.

Looks like he's got an eye infection or it could be the start of an upper respiratory infection, or it could be allergies.
