Hi there,

Figured I would start a thread about music-since we now have downloadable music at our fingers and no longer have to buy CDs to hear the latest..what's your favorite things to listen to? Or do you only have a few songs?

I listen to a wide variety=classic rock to country to pop to some R&B but I havent listened to a radio station in two years since I started listening to cds at work. I have over 75 dif albums to choose from that I burned on the puter. I am also looking to add some new stuff as I am getting bored with what I have..

As far as albums.

Fleetwood mac Tango in The night

Asia self titled

Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon

Colletive soul that blue covered album and the one after

Def Leppard The vault

Don Henley greatest hits

Hinder Extreme Behavior

Most of the other albums I have are some songs I like...the groups/singers..

Adele (of course!)

Tracy Chapman-love her lyrics

Reba mackentire

Alabama

Kenny Chesney

Trisha yearwood

Dan Seals

Aerosmith

Three Doors down

Bruce Springsten

4 Non blondes

Madonna

INXS

Bruce Hornsby and the range

nine inch nails when in the mood

Rage against the machine

Alice in chains

Hinder

Guns and Roses

Van Halen

Led Zep

Journey

Foreigner

Boston

90s Dance music=too many to list

Lady Gaga

Elton John

Prince-love his music

Anything with good rhythm.

Love the soundtrack to 50 Shades of Grey

I pretty much will listen to most things once but they have to have good rhythm and Good lyrics

Hey foxxycat, Didy you raid my album and cd collection. LOL  I listen to the same, and just yesterday played Fleetwood Mac's Rumor album, one of my first albums I'be ever purchased, and love it more every time I listen.

LOL, I could say the same thing. There's a lot in that collection which I enjoy too.

I used to purchase a lot of music.  I have an enormous record collection of 80's new wave music, hundreds of cd's and a lot just downloaded over the years.

Lately though, I haven't been spending much on music at all.  I can't even remember the last time I did.  It becomes somewhat obsessive for me and plus, my finance DJ's online at times and has amassed his own huge collection, much of which is stuff I like also.  No point in doubling up!

Now thats some funny stuff! 2Cats4EverLoved!!

I have a wide range of tastes..I do like some of the current music but its been a year since I listened to the radio at work. we only get three stations-one is the shark that USED to be pure classic rock but now they play love songs and other stuff-which I dont mind but when I want to hear guitar music I dont want to hear love songs. of course I forgot to add Metalica's Enter Sandman album as this is what I was listening to when I originally wrote this passage.

My sister used to get the 12" extended versions of songs in the 80s, and I remember playing Chakakan Over and over that song called I feel for you-I dont know why but that song was the best.

My first 45 single I bought=Van halen jump. i was 5 or 6. I loved that song from the start.

My dad only listened to country music and we have many memories of driving around singing Garth Brooks music and other popular ones from 1985-1994 era as I moved out after 1994. Seems like it was a decade ago..opps now its over 20 years ago..gulp.

I used to have Madonna posters all over the place. I thought she was so talented with changing her looks and still look original. I only prefered the posters from 1985 era=I didn't care for her songs after 1989=they just lost her touch but I still listened to her.

That is funny.  You're old enough to be my child.  And I must say I'm proud of your taste in music.

You just bought up memories. I was dancing in the clubs to "I Feel For You" lol, I played Jump in a band and went to Van Halens 1984 concert, also my boss at the time paid me to take his rug rats to Madonna's Like a Virgin Tour, at MSG. I feel the same about her, but when I hear "Borderline" it gives me a chill and reminds me of great memories with my friends.  I still listen to the radio and keep music on constantly.  I play bass and am a musician at heart so it plays a big role in my life.

I remember my first 3 45's were, Sugar Sugar-The Archies, Hooked on a Feeling-B.J Thomas and Sly and the Family Stone-Hot Fun in the Summertime. LOL  I was 4years old and my world changed the first time I stepped into Sam Goody, that was our weekly allowance, a 45 for every star we earned. LOL  You're gonna make me break out my 45's now and blast the past out the windows. haha.

Great music and affection from furry my felines makes for a happy life. LOL

Sounds like you and I are about the same age then. I remember listening to Shaun Cassidy as a kid and remember the Bay City Rollers?? I found a 45 of Saturday Night at a thrift store about 10 years ago and had to get it. I still have it and I do have a record player in the house.

When I was in third grade, we used to spend recess in the classroom. The teacher let us use the record player in there to listen to KISS records. Those were the days. Music sounds better on vinyl. People are starting to realize this and it's making a comeback. It never should have left IMO.

I remember my parents having this giant console TV with a stereo attached. There was of course an 8 track player in that.

Ah- the good old days.

I still have DH's record collection from when he was a kid. The collection includes the first record he ever bought with his own money. A much loved copy of KISS Destroyer. I will never part with any of it.

I'm still a hard/rock heavy metal girl.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is arguably the greatest album of all time and PF the greatest band of all time.

Take THAT, Kanye West

LOL Take this Kanye...hahah  Do you remember when the Bay City Rollers were on Wonderrama? lol
Agreed, Dark Side is one of the best, it was my first album and my first CD.  I'd take it to the stereo centers when purchasing new speakers. Never gets old. And yes, my good friend still has his T.V console with stereo, lol the Mad Men era.  You're probably younger, I was born in '64...  The realization is setting in that I am now older than most. LOL

Enjoy the day.

That is what the sleeve of the 45 looks like.

I sure do

I also have the stereo and Klipsch speakers that DH got when he was in his early 20's so it's probably circa 1990.

Born in 1970 so a little bit.

well I am in the middle of you guys=born in 1975!!

I remember my sister getting me into music at a young age..I remember my dad bought an Onkyo stereo and Then he let me get my own receiver and speakers and synthasiser. I bought them at mongomery Wards-the speakers were some huge 150 watt speakers or something crazy like that-I used to put my speaker in the bedroom window and play my music while i ride my bike down the road to the next block=you could still hear it..Don Henley boys of the summer

you know I used to be strictly madonna and bruce hornsby type music-tracy chapmen. I didnt care for hard rock back then. I used to go to our high school dances and dance to Ice Ice Baby song with my friends and we had a blast! We even came up with our own skit!

I used to get so sweaty that my head was soaked but I absolutely loved it..everyone was shocked how a timid quiet kid became an energizer bunny on the dance floor..so yes I feel music right through my soul. And I could dance for hours. I think back then they didnt have labels for things so perhaps I was ? different? I study with music on. I cant read a book without music or tv on. I have to have sound going. But I dislike the telephone unless its someone I am used to your voice as my hearing is shot...hahaha probably from the loud music.

in my early 20s there was this dive dance club that played R&B but I absolutely loved it..Return of the Mack is my favorite song of that era.

Now all these years later I am replaying songs back then that I didn't care for and well I find my tastes changed again. Metalica and some of the rock..oh Nicholbac I absolutely love their stuff..so many bands..not enough time..

If you are lookign for kickbutt computer speakers=look up Altec Lansing ACS340-these are on ebay=make sure you get the complete package=subwoofer and two side speakers. Simple plug and play. There is bass and treble setting on the front of one speaker so you can adjust..I bought these for $200 back in 1996? 1998? I tried newer ones-forget it..and lets just say when I have these cranking at work you can hear them outside..I found a second set for home since I took these in with me but so nice to have music at my fingertips and make my day go by better..I can't wear earbuds. my ears are too small and they never seal right...so if you want to find a cheap set of speakers around $65-$85 with shipping=these wont let you down.

Music...love it...listening to INXS right now...

'75 was a great year for music, one of my favorite all time songs is from that Summer, BTO Ain't Seen Nothing Yet...

Onkyo speakers ruled my world during H.S, but my first stereo was a Radio Shack Realistic 8track. LOL Which was actually a step up considering my sister and I both had our own portable stereo's which also took batteries. LOL

Thank you for taking my mind off my sick kitties with this thread foxxycat.  I'm blasting some Van Halen, but now that you mention Boys of Summer, another all time fave of mine, I may switch over.  I'm in the mood for Down at the Sunset Grill.  Reminds me of cruisin' down to Key West...  No worries or cares.

I just figured to start something else to yack about..yeah I dont remember the brand of speakers but let me tell you these picked up every sound from an album but I didnt have records at that point. everything was cd or cassette tape=mostly tapes. because i recorded off rock 101 FM from Manchester NH.

Right now listening to aerosmith Love in An elavator.

I found some good old cds at an antique swap shop for $1.50 to $2.50. the ones I really wanted i ordered on ebay used..

like tracy chapmen because I only had her first two albums..the new begining album i am impressed...

I  saw her in concert in Manchester NH June 1990. Veterns park,..it was a small gathering and my mom yelled out honey look at us! you are beautiful! because Tracy is shy and sat sideways..She blushed and smiled and the crowd cheered!! One of my most favorite memories of my mother-she wasnt into music like the rest of us. But she liked concerts..we also went to the Casino Ball room at the hampton beach NH and saw a few people..

At the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom K.T Oslin (80s lady/Hey Bobbie/Do ya/I'llalways come back=this song I love!!/Come Next Monday are some songs) was a big up coming country singer-we were standing in the back of the ballroom which was up high with a big set of steps out back...mom smoking a cigg and KT came out of her bus and walked up the stairs and my mom said "hello" and I got to shake her hand and I dont remember what she said because I was on cloud 9 that I got to talk to a real live singer!! Mom had that way about her..people were comfortable around her..oh I wish I could go back to those days..back when people were decent and respectful..

But alas Off to music memories..

Now I am listening to AC/DC Hells Bells...ahhh I would love to see these guys in concert!!! I missed out on it a few months ago-they were playing in Mass..

I'm more 70s with some 80s thrown in.

Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Judas Priest, Billy Squier, Alan Parsons, Carole King, Traffic, Pink Floyd, Nazareth, Bad Company, Blackmore's Rainbow, Dire Straits, Gordon Lightfoot, the Doobies, Eagles, Grand Funk, Joe Walsh, Allman Brothers, AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull, Santana (the Black Magic Woman album just rocks), Skynyrd, etc.Uriah Heep, ELO, Kansas, Foghat,.....well, I could go on and on.

Last year we only went to two concerts, but IMO, they were both out-of-this-world awesome. In September we went to Canada to see AC/DC. Quite honestly? Best concert ever. Amazing. My husband was simply "Thunderstruck".
He's been an AC/DC fan forever and it was wonderful. The band cancelled the remainder of their North American tour because Brian Johnson is going deaf. Had they finished the tour, he would have been completely deaf by the end. They are one of the loudest concerts ever and those cannons in For Those About to Rock? They're real. Our ears rang for two days after that concert. Worth every penny and then some. I doubt they'll ever tour again at this point and that concert was easily the best concert we'd ever been to.....and we've been to a lot of rock concerts.

In October we went to Pittsburgh to see Mark Knopfler, who was with Dire Straits. He is simply wonderful. That was truly a great concert. I'm the Knopfler fan in the family and have been for years. But Rick loves good music and when they went into Sultans of Swing, Rick stood up and roared, "YES!" Wonderful concert.

My iPod is full of these songs and then some. I love walking and hearing my favorite music. Classic rock just......rocks!

I like so many things :lol3: too many to list, so little time.

I've ALWAYS like 50s/60s/70s rock music. The stuff they played on the oldies station in the late 80s and 90s. Now they play 90s music on the oldies station :lol3:

I like most of the 80s music. I swear the 80s had the best one-hit wonders.

And then of course my punk rock music :heart4: I like a like original and newer punk. I love pop-punk (Green Day!), and my local bands that most people haven't heard of. There is what one person coined as the "Chicago Trifecta of Punk Rock" - Naked Raygun, Pegboy and Bollweevils. All of whom I've seen numerous times, but they actually all played in one weekend last year during Riot Fest. I think that is the first time that happened in ages. I didn't see Bollweevils though that weekend.

Then there are of course the smaller local bands which are really the heart and soul of it all.

I may (or may not) be in a Bollweevils music video next month. It's the day after a Pegboy show, that I already have tickets for, which means it's a late night. Have to be up early for the video the next day. Uh... not sure I can handle that these days! Been in a music video before, it was a lot of fun. Was sooo funny, the producer of it told us to pretend we were at a real punk rock concert. Well, she apparently had never been to one, and didn't like the beer that landed all over her and the cameras, lol.

Agreed!! you listed all the ones I couldnt think of.

AC/DC played in Worchester Mass earlier last year in Nov? Oct? My good friend at work and their buddies went-the pictures on Facebook WERE AWESOME!
You are the next person who has said they put on a great concert. Also  I heard that they are LOUD!! So lucky! I wish they had concerts earlier in the night-Its hard to go at night and get home so late then drag butt to work 4 hours later...But hey someday when I am retired I can do concerts. Work is such a pain sometimes..

I can't think of a time when I don't have music going except when Jon and I go walking. I havent found any earbugs that actually fit. I have a portable speaker that runs off my phone but havent had a chance to use it much lately..music..makes the world so much better.

Listening to Collective Soul now..

Just in case you're interested. I know most of the folks in this video actually.

(edit - took the video out since I'm not sure it's proper for all audiences after watching it!)
