My cat continues to not eat and today mom mentioned KMR. Does anyone know if you can give that to Cats with IBD? He eats a little dry, but getting him to eat wet food is almost impossible. Even when I leave dry out for him to free feed he eats very little of it.

I have some appetite stimulant left, but that can't be a permanent solution and it seems to get less and less results.

He is feeling better, blood in stool is almost gone and no more diarrhea. His fur is also laying flat again most of the time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Are you giving him daily probiotics? If you have a facebook you should join the raw feeding for IBD group those people are amazing and really know their stuff when it comes to helping IBD cats. Ideally you need to get him off kibble as quickly as possible, but one step at a time.

What have you tried to wean him off kibble?  I had 4 die hard kibble fans, and managed to convert them all to wet food
That was a few years ago, and now if I show them kibble, they have no idea what it even is, and they do NOT even try to eat it at all.

Here are some articles on how to do it, but the main thing is to find the kind of wet food your furkid likes, whether it be canned or homemade or raw.  And if canned, you need to figure out if he wants pate, chunks, shredded, or what, AND then the flavors.  Once you get it figured out, I think ANY cat can be converted.  I actually did it using Soulistic (Petco's house brand) after experimenting with many other brands. Now, naturally, they hate it!  But that's okay because now they eat all kinds of OTHER wet food.

Have you asked the vet about liquid nourishment? When Mogli has an IBD flare and doesn't want to eat, he's syringe-fed ReConvales, which is most probably called something else in the U.S.. We also use it at the shelter for very ill cats or kittens with no appetite. It's calorie-dense, meat-flavored and available through a vet. It jump-starts their appetite after a day or two. I don't know whether KMR would do that.
