Hi, everyone!

You guys have been very helpful  in my new role of providing safe places for pregnant cats to give birth working with my local shelter.  Right now, I have a pregnant Momma (Naomi, 2 yrs) and her daughter, Wynonna (11months) in my cattery..  Wy WAS super shy and quiet, until yesterday, when she begged for pets and tummy rubs, and I walked into this sweet girl having her first kittens this morning.  She had 4, and is doing GREAT now after a slow start.

Naomi is usually super friendly, loving and begs for pets.  This morning, as i was attending Wy, she begged for food- twice. I gave her 2 cans of wet food, and moved one of  the 4 nests I'd set up to a dark corner that she started sitting int.

She meowed for me to come sit with her.  i did. She wanted pets, i gave her lots of love.  Then, she started flipping out and swiping at me and snapping at me.

I don't see any noticeable contractions, but she's laying around and the swiping is odd. I'm, THINKING that she's in labor.  What do you wise folk think?

Here's Naomi checking out her new grandbabies.

It could be starting.

The kittens are very cute.  I wonder if mom and daughter will co-parent.

We're wondering the same thing!   I just checked on Naomi again, she seems perfectly fine.  She even ate (again!) . We shall see--- she's pretty big, I'm guessing 4 kittens, maybe. I thought Wy only had 2 she was small ,and out popped 4 BIG kittens!  I didn't weigh them because she was nervous.

Poor Naomi STILL hasn't delivered.  She's purring and sweet, when she's not going to kill me.  She's eating, grooming, and having me lose my mind wondering when she's going to have those babies. (And how many!) her nipples are extended, and i swear I felt some dry milk on them. I check on her every hour or so.  Poor darling.  I do have a question, tho.  Naomi's daughter, Wynonna, birthday 4 sweet babies   on Monday. I just noticed that the 2nd kitten, the calico's eyes are open. Shold I freak out about that?

I don't imagine it would be something to be worried about, as long as nobody pryed her eyes open, and she opened them on her own.

Naomi looks like she's about to pop! Haha.

I wonder if she and Wynonna will co-mother each other's kittens?

I wonder that as well. I just checked on her . No kittens yet!  I don't think she'll let my "help" with her birth. She's awfully swipey, when she's not asking for pets.

She must be so uncomfortable. She cries for food, too. So, I feed her, love on her when she asks, avoid her paws when she swipes, and  will be here if she needs me

I can still see babies rippling about in her tummy. (it's actually cool to watch).  does that mean that she's not exactly ready to go, or maybe she has eleventy-billion kittens in there and they are all out of room?

Her daughter was much smaller when she gave birth and she had 4 kittens.

Of course, i have to go out now for a few hours. Here's to hoping she'll have delivered when I get home!

PS- you  are some terrific people- I've been reading through so many posts and  all i can say is HOORAY for Cat people.

When kittens are ready to come out, they wander into the birthing position, and in there they dont move as much - prob dont have that much place either.

And the moms seems suddenly less big "has dropped".

Its no absolute rule, yet my guess is she isnt exactly there yet.

Still no kittens, she wants food,   Even she's gonna make me an April Fool, or  she's going to have  them on Sunday night during The Walking Dead and I'll have to choose between Daryl and kittens.  I'm sure I'll be a good foster Mama and  choose wisely.
