Persian eye perimeter growth

I have adopted a Persian rescue and he has some growths that look like an inflated tick around the outside of the eyelid perimeter.  They do not obstruct the closing of his eye.  I am on a long waiting list for an eye specialist but am anxious as to what these are exactly and what possible treatment these are going to require.

I'm sorry no one has replied to your post before now.   It might help if you included some good close-up photos of the growths.  Also, did you go to a regular vet first and did (s)he give you any idea of what they could be?  Are the growths getting larger or multiplying in number?  And how long has your boy had them?  Sorry to hit you with a lot of questions but maybe the answers will be familiar to someone reading your post whose cat had a similar problem.

The vet would not commit to a diagnosis...i have taken a 2nd job to help prepare for the medical procedure that will most likely be needed.

That is very strange.  I've never seen anything like that before but I hope someone will come along soon who has.  I think it's wonderful you're so committed to helping your cat that you're taking a second job.   Even though it's not affecting your cat's ability to close his eyes, those growths can't be comfortable.  Do you have some idea of how long the wait will be to see the specialist?

I'm not any kind of specialist but what you describe does sound like the eyelid apocrine hidrocystomas described in the Persians in the article.
