Tia's in final labor no kitten's yet. Didn't really realize she was even pregnant so likely a small litter. Here's to a nice labor and delivery. I have to work tonight but my dad and fiance will be home to watch over her and can call me and the vet should anything go wrong while I'm gone.

You should be feeding her kitten food if you're not already and give her a dish of KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer), powder form, Use Pet Ag, GNC or Royal Canin if you can get it.  Avoid Hartz, Sargents brands as well as pre mixed KMR due to inconsistency.  She is probably depleted from birthing and nursing the last litter.  She needs the calcium and other nutrients.  A calcium deficiency can be fatal.

I know I wasn't sure when she was due but I will be getting everything as soon as I can.  She's doing well as the first was just born cleaning and everything really well. With it being Easter Sunday and me being close to broke. Is there anything I can get and give her now to help I have 10 dollars and that's it til Tuesday.

You can crush egg shells into a powder form and put it in her wet food.  She can also have raw egg yolk mixed in with wet food (not the egg white) or you can scramble the egg and give her the whole thing.

Goat's milk, full fat, can be powdered, canned or fresh from the cow.

Turkish yogurt.

She can get pregnant again within week of delivery so you'll need to keep her inside and away from intact males until she can be spayed. She does not need to go into heat to get pregnant.

The food suggestions above are good ones. Please be sure she is eating as much as she wants.

Thanks handome. I will be heading out in a few to see if anywhere is open that would carry any of those. I have eggs so I might scramble her an egg when she's ready to eat. As she just ate the placenta from her first kitten and the little one is doing well so far scooting around crying nice and loud. Always a good sign. Thanks.

Getting a little concerned as the first kitten was born almost an hour ago and hasn't nursed yet. I know they have a certain amout of time they can go without nursing after being born but I don't know what that is.

the mom usually waits until she is done giving birth before feeding the kittens  unless there is a break in between.  No big rush on the extra calcium foods.  Starting in a day or two is fine.

You can try and put the kitten to a nipple if you are really concerned.

BTW Mom may not be hungry depending on how many placentas she eats.  Don't let her eat more than 4, it can give her diarrhea.

Okay, Yeah I am concerned and been trying to put the little one to a nipple but they don't take it and pop off a moment later. Mom might not be done delivering yet but she's staying with the kitten at least and only left once and I called her and she came right back and hopped into the nest again. How long do I have before I have to feed the little one myself?

I'm not sure.  A few hours?  Do you have KMR or goat's milk?  No cow's milk, cats are lactose intolerant.

Okay, not at the moment. and I don't think anywhere that carries either one of those is open the best I could get is evaporated milk and eggs. though I think the little one was suckling a min ago for a few seconds. Also I think one of the problems is one of the older kittens we still have was suckling on her. I pulled him away and wiped off her belly with a warm cloth,

that recipe wouldn't be a can of evaporated milk, a table spoon of sugar and an egg yoke would it?

The little one is nursing now and well. Just on a bottom nipple. But at least their nursing which makes me feel better.

It could be. There is more than one. I found this one.  Here it is just in case you need it.

Orphaned Kitten Emergency Milk Replacer Recipe
RECIPE INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS Homemade milk replacer for kittens1
 90 ml condensed milk
 90 ml water
 120 ml plain yogurt (not low fat)
 3 large or 4 small egg yolks
Mix all ingredients completely and warm to 97-100° F before feeding.

Good news re: the kitten nursing.  FYI the four bottom nipples between the back legs have the best/most milk.

okay thanks I am going to go get that asap. That's good that means the little one will be just fine then. If mama will stop knocking the poor baby off the nipple while grooming herself.

If you need to feed the kitten, both the food and the kitten need to be warm.  Also feed the kitten tummy down head slightly elevated like she is laying by mom and nursing.  You will also need a small needleless syringe, 1 - 2 ml.  Nursing kittens won't take a bottle.  you can also use an eye dropper.
