Worried about kittens

Hi so about a year ago a stray cat wondered up to my grandmothers house and had 2 kittens. At the time no one was paying much attention to her because she was just a stray but now she and the two kittens have become pets. Recently she became pregnant again. Friday I checked her and I could tell she was getting extremely close to having kittens. Saturday afternoon I checked and the kittens were born(you could no longer feel them inside of her). However we haven't been able to find the kittens anywhere. I'm most concerned because mama cat seems to not be taking care of the kittens as she is always out and about by herself. I'm concerned that she had rejected them or that they were stillborn. Does anyone know how common this is? Should I be concerned that she isn't with the kittens all the time?

Update: I just went outside to check on them and notice that mama cat was letting one of the older cats nurse from her. He is definitely too old to still be nursing

Is it possible that the kittens have dropped into the birth canal but she hasn't delivered yet? Do you see any evidence of discharge?

I think it's likely she hasn't delivered yet. Please move her into a safe, quiet room where she can deliver and raise her kittens. She can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old. It's very important that she not be allowed outside or around intact males until she is spayed. Multiple pregnancies and heat cycles are not healthy.

The two cats from her first litter can also be spayed/neutered now.

How should I go about checking that?
We are planning on getting her and the first two kittens spayed

Pregnant cats have the litter drop into the birth canal before delivery. This can make them look a lot less pregnant and you feel less movement, but they are still in there. You check for this by trying to feel her belly. You should still feel slight kicks.

It's actually very surprising that the older cats aren't pregnant yet. Can you keep them inside until they are spayed? Otherwise you are going to have an overwhelming amount of kittens in the very near future. They should really all be moved inside.

I went and felt her stomach. I didn't feel anything. I didn't feel any kind of discharge and I didn't feel any movement. How long are they in the birth canal?

If you have a smart phone you can play newborn kittens meowing and see if she runs to find them.

I brought her up on the screened in back porch and played the sounds. She started running around looking for the source of the sound and then I let her go back out in the yard to see if she would go look for her own kittens but she's just sitting there

Any news yet? Adding it's
common to find an adult sneak in with the litter just to pinch a little from nursing mom....It
sounds like you know what she's doing did she not have a nest somewhere? Laundry basket, under bed, deep drawer? If you cannot feel ANY babies or movement....

So I went outside and played the kitten noises. She ran to try to find the source. Once she realized it was me I guess she just kind of walked away but stayed on alert. She still hasn't went to any kind of hiding place

I don't either. I think the whole gang should be moved inside and you should set up a nest in a dark, quiet room for the mom to be.

Hmm. Sounds like she hasn't had the kittens yet. Please keep us updated. Can you just bring her inside? And do get her other kittens fixed asap.
