good morning!
and Happy Easter to all who celebrate it!

lately i've been watching some new (to me) tv shows, as well as some of my favorites. i think it's time that we revisit a previous Question of the Day topic.........

What are some of your favorite tv shows? Any new favorites?

i'll start!

i'm still very much into Orphan Black; i really enjoy that show. and i'm watching Blindspot as each new episode airs. i'm working through the episodes of both Elementary and Major Crimes. and i'm in the process of catching up in Rizzoli and Isles.

i watched the movie Limitless a ways back. i discovered recently that there's a tv series based on the movie, picks up where the movie left off. so i've been enjoying Limitless (the tv series) lately.

i just today came across another good mystery tv series, Grantchester. it's set in England in 1953, and seems to have a good story to it.

a really interesting tv series i've gotten into is Dickensian. it's based on quite a few of Charles Dickens' characters, but all together in one story line. really a very cool show!

and here's a tv series that i'm interested in watching, but haven't as yet -- 11.22.63. i've always been fascinated with John F. Kennedy, and have read a lot about his assassination and theories about it. 11.22.63 combines several years and the days leading up to President Kennedy's assassination with a time travel twist -- a teacher who discovers a time portal and uses it to go back to try and prevent the assassination.

another one i'm wanting to start watching is The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

PBS series seem to have been suspended for the moment. i'll continue with the next seasons of Home Fires and Indian Summers, when they start up with new episodes. and i'll see if there's a 'catch up' episode of Mercy Street available just before that series starts it's next season.

How about you?

My favorite show of all times is Midsomer Murders.  Although sometimes it's too hokey for words, the acting, sets and settings are always superb.  There's a lot of humor which I enjoy as well.  What I like best about it, however, is the music.  I come back again and again to listen to the musical scores.  Sometimes the melodies are achingly beautiful, other times full of humor but they are always perfect for the scene. I am in awe of the composer who has been writing the music for this series for 17 years and still makes it fresh.   He's also in his 80's which makes it even more impressive.

My other favorite shows are Sherlock, Poirot and Foyles War.  I have just discovered Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and enjoy them as well.

My favorite US shows are NCIS and Law and Order, SVU.

This past year, I have really discovered many PBS series.

I hate to admit that I watch too much TV, however my DVR is full of shows which I have not viewed yet. I like to store them up for when i want to.

PBS (no particular order):

Grantchester

Father Brown

Call the Midwives (seasonal)

Inspector George Gently

Home Fires

Mercy Street

Poldark

Mercy Street

I also loved Foyles War, however I discovered it during the last 2 season~excellent writing.

I also tape:

Major Crimes

Blacklist

Who do you think you Are?

and catch up on Limitless, when I can.

I do watch:

Grey's Anatomy

Scandal

How to get away with Murder------all these programs are on Thursday nights

and my luxury is: Supergirl

I find I really enjoy the writing and quirkiness of the characters on PBS. Almost all of the series are murder mysteries, set in during different decades. They are all so well written. You really get to know the characters. These programs are at least an hour, so are 90 minutes, allowing for full story/character development. The bad part is the seasons are so short. Once you are hooked on a series, it is done for the season.  That is why I have so many series.

Blacklist is definitely our #1 show, we tape it so as to get though the commercials faster.Otherwise we just channel surf, usually watching Big Bang Theory and medical ER true stories. We also tape a lot of the old shows, like westerns, Gunsmoke, Shenadoah, etc, and Murder She Wrote, Cannon, and really all the old shows to watch when there is nothing to be found! It just amazes me that with over two hundred channels we can't find anything to watch! And of these we only watch about 4-5 stations regularly, I wish you could buy, and pay form, only the channels you watch!

So when I am not watching for the millionth time Curious George, Sponge Bob or Paw Patrol. I have a handful of shows I enjoy watching. On Wendsdays I watch Young and Hungry and Baby Daddy. Then on Fridays I watch Last Man Standing. During the week when I can catch up on the shows I can't catch I watch them on demand. I like The Middle, Modern Family and Fresh off the Boat.

I am also really excited that Starz has finally started production on The White Princess mini series. I love the books I have read all of them but the one that just came out. I have waited 3 years since the last episode of The White Queen for this sequel to come out. I love time period shows like this but most of the time I don't know they are on. So thankful for Netflix because of them getting shows like the Tudors and the like I have already gone through all the ones they have on there just waiting for more to be added hopefully soon.

Well, you all know that I've been a Supernatural fan since midway through its first season. It's now Season 10, so I've been faithful, through the good, the bad, and the snark. Love my SN. (For those who don't know, I had just come home from a meeting one Tuesday night and, while I was undressing and putting on my sweats, I was flipping through the tv channels. Came across a bare-chested Sam, said, "Hello, what is this?", sat down on the bed and well, that was that. There are times when I'm definitely lurking in the shallow end of the pool.
 )

I like Sleepy Hollow, too, although not as much as the first two seasons.

I started watching Lucifer and it's so stupid that I like it. Tom Ellis makes a great Lucifer, and, again, I like the snark. Thank goodness for OnDemand, though, because I keep falling asleep during the last 15 minutes of the blasted show.

The second season of Outlander comes back on April 9, so I will be calling our cable company to get Starz for the next couple of months, while Outlander is running again.

The X-Files. I'm working my way through the old X-Files on the Fire Stick, about halfway through Season 2.

Elementary. You know, I tried watching it, but I keep falling asleep. It's not that I don't like it; it's just that I'm really tired, I guess. After I'm done binge-watching The X-Files, I plan to start Elementary.

America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country on CREATE, a PBS station.

I like Big Bang, but usually watch it on OnDemand on Friday nights after Sleepy Hollow is over.

And that's pretty much it. I have the tv on for background at night, but I'm not really watching it. I usually fall asleep to something, then awaken around 2:00 and turn the tv off. Most of the time, I'm asleep by the time the 10:00 local news comes on.

"Race for the White House" on CNN :lol3:

It is pretty cool actually, talks about elections in history. It's like a mini-series I guess since they will run out of elections eventually, and not all were that interesting. They talk about Lincoln/Douglas, Bush/Dukakis, etc. I had NO idea all the stuff that went on with the latter mentioned until I saw that the other day!

The only show I'm totally addicted to is Once Upon a Time.

Other than that, I watch the Voice and American Idol.

None of the current shows appeal to me at all, and haven't for a long time.

I have kind of plebian tastes when it comes to tv.

I'll watch anything paranormal, at least once.  Even old reruns of Most Haunted. which might be the most bogus thing ever.

NCIS

Criminal Minds

Lucifer.  He's just such a cute little devil.  Cheeky.

Rosewood, for many of the same reasons

Hawaii 5-0

Bones, in season (I HATE that split season thing that Fox does...almost worse than their news programming)

A BUNCH of animal shows, "My Cat From Hell" being at the top of that list.

I don't have cable so I watch a LOT less TV than I used to. Right now on Netflix I am binge watching Trailer Park Boys.

i love that the PBS series are set in different decades. i also have really enjoyed their Indian Summers series, because it's set in a different decade and in India.

ahhh, The Blacklist certainly is a good show!

i like the old tv series too!

i've looked at 'packages' of channels from the cable company, dish, and directv. and one thing i noticed is that in order to have the handful (or less) channels that i would really want and watch regularly, the package(s) that include those channels always have a ton of other channels that i would almost never or never watch.

with so many people streaming these days, i think the cable companies are desperate. but still, you can't just go over to (for example) the TCM website and sign up and pay to be able to stream their movies/shows. they require that you pay for cable/satellite dish service in order to be able to sign up and stream. i absolutely love TCM and i would happily pay to be able to stream from their website, but not a chance i'll be paying for cable or satellite dish service. so instead, i watch old movies via 3 different free to stream websites.

Ahh, living alone, I watch tons of tv. It's how I chill out at night!  I have things I watch each night.

Some shows I watch are,

Once Upon A Time

The Foster's (on what was abc family, is now free form) (I used to sing the intro song to Angel)

Bates Motel (A & E)  I can't/ don't watch horror, or scary movies, but I do like thrillers, & that's what this is like.

Blind spot

Big Bang Theory

2 Broke girls

Grey's anatomy

How to get away with Murder

Rosewood

Sleepy Hollow

The Black List

Shades of Blue

Super girl

Hollywood Medium (on E!) That kid is amazing!

Little Women of LA (lifetime)

The little couple (TLC)

Heartbeat (new NBC show)

(and the Hallmark channel shows that used to be Saturday nights, but switched to Sun. When calls the Heart, Cedar Cove, The Good Witch)

I also watch some of the ABC Wednesday night line up 1/2 hr. comedies like Modern Family, The Goldburg's, etc.. Funny!

YUP, I watch a lot!
