My male Manx is losing interest in his wet food and it's driving me nuts. Half eaten or even completely untouched wet food being thrown out because he refuses to eat. I've resorted to adding more Fancy Feast classic into my rotation just to get him to finish a can. He usually gets:

Weruva

Merrick Purrfect Bistro Pates

Nature's Variety Pride and Instinct

Wellness normal and CORE

Sometimes he'll get Tiki Cat, I&Love&You, and Fancy Feast classic. He is not losing weight.

He gets a small amount of Orijen dry between meals but I suspect my parents of giving him more behind my back. I'm also switching to the Performatrin Ultra dry as it's cheaper and he seems to like it more. Either way, he only gets maybe half a handful a day when my parents aren't overfeeding behind my back.

I want to try FortiFlora but it's quite pricey and is only available online, which is inconvenient. There's also no guarantee it'll work.

What can I do to get my dumb cat to finish a canned meal?

Your vet should have FortiFlora but it probably costs a bit more than online. Very few cats can resist FortiFlora. It's basically animal digest.

Try other toppers:  crushed up freeze dried treats, a little sprinke of real Paremesean cheese (that you grate yourself from a block / wedge. The canister stuff contains cellulose aka wood pulp), pet food enhancers. Here's a thread with additional suggestions: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/301839/any-suggestions-for-food-toppers-or-appetite-simulators-for-cat

Crushed treats like Pure Bites work well for us when our cats get snitty about finishing their food. I also find that an occasional variety meal helps, something the cats don't usually get so aren't expecting.

If all else fails, can you hide the dry food from your parents?

My best suggestion is to cut out the dry altogether. I was leaving a small amount of dry out during the day while I was at work and, like you, was feeling like getting my girl to finish her canned food was becoming a job unto itself. About a month ago I stopped leaving dry food out completely and now have no problems getting her to finish all of her food. I got a timed cat food dispenser on Amazon with a ice pack that keeps a serving of canned food fresh so I can leave a small meal for her out while I'm at work during the long work day or one out at night so she doesn't wake me up at 3 am because she's hungry!! She likely doesn't need that but it makes me feel better knowing its there in case I get held up coming home from work.
