Your cat is beautiful, she looks like she wants to sneak out the window lol. She has got a bit of a belly in some pics but like mine her patterned fur hides it well x

I know this sounds like a stupid question but how long is soon? In the next day or two? Or longer/shorter. I have bred dogs before and am very familiar with dogs having pups but ive only ever had pet cats that havnt had kittens and it dosnt help ive only had this cat for three weeks so don't know her that well although I am attached already :)

I was going to find a home for her aswell as the kittens because i have dogs and only took her to stop her and kittens being put down but im attached so I'm going to keep her now, I don't think its fair to uproot her again to a new home so I will get her spayed when the kittens are weened. As much as I love kittens I only want her as pet not breeding x

She'll be much happier and healthier once she is spayed.  Please make sure that whoever the kittens go to plan to spay and neuter as well.  Thank you for giving her a home!

I would think she'd deliver within the next day or two.  She doesn't seem to be in labor yet, but does seem like she's close.

She just came downstairs to find me, I gave her some food but she hardly touched it which is not like her so maybe they will come soon? Its weird, she looks a bit slimmer???

Yes, that can happen when the kittens drop into the birth canal.

I forgot to say earlier she had some clean liquid come out of her nipples. Well I think it was clear? She has what looks like white scabs or dry skin on them now. She is really restless, cant sit still. She only settles when I lie down and she climbs up onto my stomach and then settles for a few minutes but not for long and she starts trying to get comfortable again. I have to say I don't like the waiting game! :0

I woke up thinking id find kittens this morning.... :(

Still no kittens  and shes eating again and comeback downstairs?? She was crying like mad last night so I don't get it? I'm thinking the vet may have guessed her due date wrong. Any ideas? I was going to take her vets but its pouring with rain and so windy my bin was knocked over so don't want to walk her up the vets half an hour away in this weather incase she catches a chill

She sounds like she's fine, just uncomfortable and getting close. I don't think she needs to go to the vet unless she seems to be in distress. Otherwise it's not worth the stress on her.

Yeah I don't want to stress her out so I just have to be patient, I'm not very good at waiting and I'm sure iv gained a few wrinkles from frowning and anxiousness lol. She has been fine round the dogs too and dosnt seem to want to go outside anymore, shes happy to lay on the floor outside the lounge where I am and sleep so I will leave her to it. Looking forward to meeting her babies :)

Hi everyone just wanted to let you know my cat went into labour last night! I noticed she was sort of shaking? I thought something was going wrong so i looked online and it said it could be a sign of labour so i put her in her room and kept her separated from the dogs but she kept calling for me and didn't want to be left alone bless her, she was obviously scared. So anyway, she slept with me and the dogs last night and woke me up about 6am meowing so I took her upstairs to her room and sat with her rubbing her tummy. About 5 or 10 minutes later she started pushing against my hand with her paws then a few minutes passed and she suddenly jumped up into the laundry basket and within a minute gave birth to two kittens one straight after the other. Then she had two more about 10 minutes later. I don't think shes going to have any more as shes not shaking and shes feeding the kittens. She did have trouble with the last one, she was so exhausted and it was half way out but she couldn't push anymore so I had to pull him out gently and rip open the sac cuz she just didn't have the strength to. I tried to get her to chew through the umbilical cord but she couldn't even lift her head up so I cut it and wiped him up and then put him with mum and the rest of the kittens.

I'm happy to say they are all nursing and cuddled up with mum now.

Thanks for all your advice, it was a big help

.

I enclosed a pic of one of the kittens xx

Hi thanks I will add more pics in a minute. I could do with a bit of advice first though. When I went to check on her last night before I went bed she was outside the laundry basket and lying next to it (the kittens were inside) Anyway she turned over for me to rub her tummy like she did when in labour so I did and she started shaking again like she did just before she had the four kittens. Also she is still quite big but on her right side I can feel a big mass which I don't feel on her left side. The mass feels just slightly bigger than the biggest kitten, could she still have one inside her? Maybe a still born? I checked this morning and she went to come out to get some fuss then jolted and it looked like she was going to push again but then just seized up and stayed there like that. She was purring and apart from that she seems fine but I did try to see if she had milk yet but none came out and this was at 11pm and she had her kittens around 8.30am that morning so I'm just wondering if I should take to the vet? Also should I get milk to feed the kittens as she still dosnt have milk this morning so I'm getting worried. I may just be worrying as its my first litter of kittens but I just want to make sure I'm giving them the best care possible. I should add I counted the placentas and they all came out

Thanks xx

It could be another kitten or it could be her uterus, which is stretched out. She may also be having after pains from delivery. Do you think she's in distress?

The best way to see if the kittens are gaining enough is to weigh them every day. If they're not gaining, you do need to supplement. Do you see them nursing? Are they crying all the time?

That's great they had kittens so close together. Mine cried a bit with the first one but it only took a few minutes from contractions to birth and the first two came out together then the other two about 5 mins after. Considering what id read I thought it would be a long thing but it was over pretty quick. They seem to be suckling although I havnt seen any milk yet? I did count the placentas though and all came out and even though I can feel that mass on her side she seems fine
