Other than having dinner, we don't do much overall. I think there will be 9 of us for dinner on Sunday. I had planned on dinner around 2:00, but my brother called last night, saying that he has to be to work by 5:00 and it's a good hour from our house for them to get back home and he's afraid he'll be too rushed for time. So I talked to everybody else and we're going to eat around 12:30. That gives us time to enjoy being together, too, before they have to leave. (I don't know why 2:00 seems to be the time for our family dinners and I know my mother and my aunt used to hate that we were eating "so late". But I hate having to get up in the morning and start rushing around right away. And I always figured that we could just munch the rest of the day and not have to worry about making supper.)

I do have a surprise for Rick's mom. One of her nephews lives in Florida and she doesn't get a chance to talk to him as often as she would like. He and I have made arrangements for him to call here at the house on Sunday afternoon, and they can chat as long as they want. I know she'll be thrilled to hear from him.

I don't think Rick is taking his mother to church; I know she hasn't said anything about it. That will be the first time in a long time that they have not gone to church on Easter Sunday. I'm going into the florist tomorrow to pick up a pretty spring arrangement; we'll use it on our dinner table on Sunday, then Evelyn can take it home to enjoy it. (She just loves fresh flowers and the cats treat any floral arrangements around here as lunch!)

So other than dinner, we're not doing anything. What about you?

We never do much, as we don't have kids, etc. I usually make a nice dinner for DH & I, but this year I'm not.  We will be cooking and serving breakfast at the Salvation Army early that morning, so I won't be up to making a big dinner. I'm baking 4 apple pies to take for the breakfast (pie for brekky, anyone?) and DH is making sausage cream gravy & biscuits.

Nope. DD is at school. I sent her a box of goodies that she will get today. Some of her favorite treats and some stuff to do her nails. A couple of polishes, some remover pads, a rubberized base coat from Orly as she is always complaining about her nail polish chipping , a cute pair of earrings and a few other things. Sophie supervised me putting the box together.

I'll get some more low sodium turkey for the kitties. Lily wanted some last night. I had given them the last slice the night before. I went to the fridge for something and she got excited thinking I was getting the turkey. I gave her a snack but when she realized that it wasn't what she wanted, she left the room in a huff

That's it. It will be a typical day for the furkids and me.

...with the cats...
i don't really celebrate Easter. in years past, i've put together Easter baskets for the cats. i may go ahead and do that this year, as i have the baskets and always have spare cat toys. i'll be having a busy day of laundry, cleaning, moving firewood, and etc on Sunday. so i'd put the Easter baskets together on Sunday, then give them to the cats the next day.

I am not going anywhere for Easter. I usually do not. It is a stay at home holiday.

I will be up early for Mass, then home...That for me, is what Easter is about.

I did buy a small ham for myself, with pineapple.. also mashed potatoes, and green beans, along with kielbasa and horseradish...those are regular accompaniments for Easter Dinner.  I am not sure what I will have for dessert. I did not make it to the Polish store this year.

I was invited to my cousin's for dinner, but I declined. I felt like staying at home. I am glad I did because I am still fighting 'something'...so if I feel like it I can cook, watch TV, and relax.. or do some laundry in-between...

We will be at church (like pretty much every Sunday).  Then we will have dinner at my mother's.  My Step-sister will be in town with her 2 kids; so they do an egg hunt at my Mom's too.

We don't do the Easter Bunny or Santa; but I do dye eggs (need to go boil those right now!!
), Easter baskets and an egg hunt.  I do plastic eggs with little candies.  DD has a peanut allergy so it's hard to find a variety.  I don't give them much candy anyway. But I still like to make a nice basket so I also look for little toys or things like bubbles and sidewalk chalk.  I made little felt goodie bags for my niece and nephew that will be here too.  I just put pre-made egg with skittles and a little tube of mini M&Ms in there.  I'll probably add a few other loose things; but not much.  I don't get to see them too often; so I want to have a little something for them too.

I'm not Christian, but mom is, so I celebrate in the same way I celebrate Christmas, lol. Honestly though, I think we both really fall under the "we believe in a higher power" thing but are not part of any given religion.

With that said, Mom's making lasagna for Easter. And on Monday I'm raiding the candy aisle at Jewel :lol3:

Other than a special dinner, my famly never celebrates Easter or any other holiday (or birthdays or other occasions
). Easter dinner is usually an overcooked generally blah ham with an overpowering taste of the million whole cloves Mom sticks in, maybe a side dish of overcooked overly salty veggies. No one but Dad eats the ham anyways so I don't kow why Mom even bothers to make a whole ham every year.

The lady who invited us for Easter Dinner hurt herself yesterday and can't cook. So we will probably eat out at a restaurant as I haven't bought anything special to cook. What I really would like to do is have some barbecued chicken on the grill. But I would have to talk hubby into wanting to cook after church. He generally likes to chill and watch he races on Sundays.

i havent celebrated Easter since a kid. Sometimes I have gone with others families to eat out but this year I am looking forward to a quiet day at home with NO traffick out front. I want to go hiking or something active but we probably will just walk around the neighborhood. I may cook something but we still have left overs to eat and lots of fruits so probably just be a quiet day..my family celebrates holidays but we always get together on a nonholiday day so we all can stay home with our immediate families..my cats prefer us home all day..they are spoiled and I love them..so we stay home and entertain them..

We celebrate it in a non-religious sense.. we don't go to Church or anything.. but my mom loves to cook (Typical Italian with enough food to feed the army).

it'll be my parents, my sister and her family (3 kids), my aunt, uncle, and my 93 year old grandmother.

I just got done baking coconut macaroons, and 2 dozen cupcakes- I filled the cupcakes with frosting, per my mom's request, lol.

I will be going to my sister & bro-in-laws church this year. Then after, we are all going over to his sister's house for dinner. My parents will join us there, when they get out of church.

I don't eat pork, (or beef) so I picked up a small Jenny O turkey ham to take for me & maybe a couple of other's who don't either. I also made & decorated cookies this afternoon. I had these spring cookie cutters, so wanted to use them. This is what I did! It was fun, because I had some easter decorating stuff!

Yes--I am Catholic, and will be going to the Easter Vigil Mass this evening.  No real plans regarding food, but will be going out to eat tomorrow, probably more of a brunch thing after my children (who are all teens) help hide the eggs for the little kids' Easter egg hunt.

There will also be candy at home.

I do a basket for Hekitty every year, and get a few Cadbury Eggs for myself.  Hekitty was going to get a treat tower made from TP rolls wrapped in ConTact paper and glued together, but three days ago she managed to break into the hall closet and dismantle the entire thing.  SIGH...she seems to have had a good time, at any rate.

I know you had a wonderful Easter day..

I  call it resurrection day because Jesus Christ died and arose

as the atonement of our sins..this past weekend..

We had a great christian church service and singing and  sermon

and then a lunch at church.

I prepared a southern favorite dish

Pear salads... a pear with mayo , grated cheese and a red cherry on

top.
