So our cat Mia had a second surgery for bladder stonesand I have put her on strictly wet food chose Merrick brand ,no fish and she only likes pate which we mmix with water.Peeing much better problem with pooping but added pumpkin to her food and seem to be on the right track. The vet wants to do more blood tests for the ph in her urine and possible kidney problems but I think this poor girl has had enough for now! We hsd another cat for 13 years and noticed her breathing had changed off to the vet and she, unexpectedly did not come home heart and lungs in poor shape so had to say goodbye to her. Terribly hard to do. So opinions on the Merrick brand and suggestions on something better would be appreciated. We did try raw but I couldn't do it.A dry food would be nice just for a treat but don't dare.
Thanks for listening! [emoji]9786[/emoji]

While I can't speak much to the food brand specifically (I know there are plenty of knowledgeable folks here that can), I would say if your vet wants to check for kidney problems that you may want to do that. If there is CKD, you want to catch it early so you can be more proactive with any treatment (generally early stages you want to focus on low phosphorus food). I understand your baby has been through a lot, and can appreciate not wanting to put her through the stress of bringing her in again. But there is probably a reason the vet is asking to do this.

I lost a cat to kidney disease in November and my one girl is battling it now (she has had a very rough week actually as a result) and wishing now I'd brought her in a month ago when she was becoming increasingly difficult to pill.
