This is my very firs time ever getting a cat fix, let alone spayed. I have three girls, and the second oldest, Hazel was spayed on Tuesday. I was so nervous, as she had never even seen a vet before, and she was due for all of her booster shots and the surgery. The surgery went well, from what I know. The vet didn't say she had any complications. The very first night, she slept all night. Didn't eat even a nibble, which scared me to death. Yesterday morning, she started chowing down and drinking water again. Hazel is one of those cats who already sleeps a lot, so I was less worried when she started eating again. She hasn't really messed with her incision too much; I've only caught her two or three times trying to lick at it or around it, but nothing looks infected to me. That is, I'm assuming it's healing okay. I've been trying to take one picture a day to compare it each day, and I'm going tomorrow after work to show the vet the pictures just to make sure she's healing properly. I've just noticed that her incision is much larger than some others I've seen online. Sewed up well, I think, but maybe it's because she was going in and out of heat when she was getting ready for the surgery. I've included a picture of the incision as of yesterday as well as she'd allow me to take it then

(she won't let me snap one of her today), so if anyone could give me advice, that'd be great.

Another question I have is this: my cat is drinking, eating, and urinating just fine, but I have not seen her have a bowel movement since she's come home; is this normal? I can't get all riled up about it yet because (I'm ashamed to say), with three girls running around the house and so many litter boxes, I've never noticed her regularly going to the bathroom. She has no problems walking around and she doesn't look bloated. She could have gone while I was at work or asleep, it's hard to say. I have the other two cats now coming in and out of the room to spend time with me, and they're also using the litter box, so it's hard to tell who's clumps belong to who.

Her incision looks great!

Not pooping is totally normal because she was fasting.  Nothing in = nothing out.  Since she's eating so well, she should be having a bowel movement within a day.

Also, she slept a lot when you brought her home because she was still under the influence of the anesthesia and possibly any injected pain meds she recieved.

I'm so glad her incison looks good.

In the middle of the night she started sneezing a lot. She seemed a little blah so I called the vet, which led to her getting an antibiotic in case she had a URI (she was a little warm). So, she only let me give her half of the amox this morning, will try again tonight. My husband claims she isn't the same now, but it's only been since Tuesday. The vet said as long as she's eating, there's nothing to worry about. Did anyone's cat's behavior seem a bit off the couple days post-op?

Mine have usually been a little groggy for a day or two following surgery.  It wouldn't surprise me at all that she's picked up a little upper respiratory infection due to the stress of the trip to the vet and the surgery.  Keep an eye on her and keep trying to give her the meds.
