Question on Bene-bac gel:

My cat (Jewel) had a 'fever of unknown origin' a few weeks ago, Vet gave him a course of Clinaimicin(? sp.), making his stool quite soft.  He's finished the meds and is back to eating normally and playing,  but I haven't seen his poop in quite a few days, so I don't know if he's still soft or if he's constipated.  I just see clumps when I scoop his box, can't tell which it is.  Wondering if I should start him on Bene-Bac and also is safe to give a probiotic as a supplement (once a week)?

I think the idea of a probiotic is Daily.. I give Artie Proviable daily..I mix in into his food.

There's no harm in giving a probiotic if you want to. It really seems to help some cats. I'd always want to give a probiotic for a while after a course of antibiotics, as they do tend to kill off the good bacteria along with the bad.

I'm glad your boy is recovered from his mystery illness :)

Thank you both. Gave him his 1st dose today. He wouldn't just lick it of my finger as people have stated on other threads, so i mixed it with his wet food & he ate without any problems. Hopefully he will be straightened out soon.
