I read somewhere that I can't use regular cat litter after Comet gets neutereted? True? If so, why, and what kind? He goes in April 15. And will I need the pain meds they offered for after the surgery? Will he need the e-cone? They both cost extra. If he needs them I definitely will get them, but if it's unnessecary I don't want waste the money.

After Milo was neutered, I asked the vet the same 3 questions you just asked.  He said no pain meds or cone were necessary and the regular litter was okay, but if I worried about it, to use one made of newspaper.    Despite my misgivings, the vet was right.  Milo was fine without meds or cone.  I shredded some newspaper for him the first night but after that he went back to his regular litter.  From what I've read here on TCS, a lot of freshly neutered male cats come home without cones or meds and have no problems at all.

You don't need any special litter or an e-collar
Or pain meds. Neutered males bounce back quickly. The cat may be quiet for a day afterwards but that's the anesthesia wearing off. You may want to keep the cat in one room of the house for a day to minimize accidents. Sometimes a cat will try to go about his normal activity while still under the waning effects of anesthesia and might tumble down stairs or something.
